Christmas Decor - Dining Room & Kitchen
Dining Room
China Cabinet: I replaced all of our fine china with our Christmas china pieces. I did leave a few things from our everyday setup, but most of the decor here is all Christmas based. Every year I try and purchase one or two more pieces that can be displayed. This year I added salad serving utensils and cake serving utensils.
Light Fixture: Using white thread, I hung random ornaments at random heights. I liked the idea of using ornaments that aren't your typical round ones. It wouldn't work for every light fixture, but it did work perfectly for ours. I also made sure to use ornaments of the same color as our china pattern.
Dining Room Table: I wanted everything to match our Christmas china. We have the Lenox Holiday setting with gold flatware. I found some nice red placemats at Homegoods. My green napkins were also found there, however they look gray in my pictures. My table runner was purchased at Walmart, and we got a poinsettia from Lowe's. My napkin rings were also a china purchase this year.
Overall our dining room decor was relatively inexpensive minus the china and flatware. But seriously, it was easy to put together and I found most things on clearance or at Homegoods.
Kitchen
Counters: I have a nice ceramic plate that allows for interchangeable ribbon. I used red ribbon and on the plate is our countdown to Christmas. Using a plate stand, I have out all of our Christmas paper products. Next to that, I used a small vase to hold red and green plastic utensils. This is perfect for desserts and snacks during our holiday events.
Kitchen Table: Our kitchen space is fairly small. We have a drop-leaf table from Brad's great grandmother. We just use two table settings. I used green placemats that we already owned to start with. To save money, I used our existing dinner plates and silverware. I found two really cute Christmas dessert plates at Homegoods to place on top of the dinner plate. Then I used silver napkins also found at Homegoods. The centerpiece is really simple. I used one of my white serving platters, some existing small candleholders, and surrounded it with round ornaments. Simple and inexpensive!
