Letter Painting

Items Needed

  • Wooden Letter
  • Red, White, and Green Paint
  • Paintbrushes (I only use one large one and two small ones)
image.jpg

Instructions

Step One: Paint the letter a solid color.  I picked red.  Do this using the large paint brush.

Step Two: Let dry about 10 minutes then apply a second coat.

Step Three: Decide the colors you want the polka dots.  I wanted four colors: white, green, light red (mix red with a little white using small paint brush), light green (mix green with a little white using small paint brush).

Step Four: Let the second coat dry about 15 minutes; using your finger (yes your fingers), apply the polka dots by dipping your finger lightly in the paint in step three and in a circular motion apply to letter.  Apply them in random spots throughout the letter.

Santa Canvas Painting

Items Needed

  • Canvas
  • Red, Black, White, and Gray Paint
  • Three Sponge Paintbrushes and 1 Small Paintbrush
image.jpg

Instructions

Step One: Paint canvas solid red.  Make sure to paint in the same direction for best results.

image.jpg

Step Two: Let dry about 15-20 minutes.  Paint a second coat of red paint on the canvas.

Step Three: I let the red paint dry about 30 minutes.  Using a large paintbrush, paint a black line in the middle of the canvas in portrait style.  The black line should be about 3-4 inches thick (it really depends on the size of the canvas you picked).

image.jpg

Step Four: Let dry about 10-15 minutes, then paint a second coat of black paint.

Step Five: I let the paint dry overnight since it was black paint and the next step involves white paint.  But you could probably let it dry about an hour to be safe.  Using the large sponge paintbrush, paint a solid white line down the middle of the painting over the red paint.  Do not paint over the black paint.  It should be about 2-3 inches thick.

Step Six: Lightly tap all over the white paint, to give it a furry look.  It is ok if some of this gets on the black.

Step Seven: Let this dry about half an hour as well.  Now paint the belt buckle using the gray paint.  Touch up the belt as needed.

**Drying times are estimates.  I painted this painting over a few days.  The key is that it is dry to the touch to keep from smearing the paint.

Snowman Canvas Painting

Items Needed

  • Canvas
  • Blue, White, Orange, and Black Paint (I was going to use the red and mix it white white for the snowman's cheeks, but I changed my mind).
  • Paintbrushes (I used 3 large and 1 small)
image.jpg

Instructions

Step One: Paint the canvas solid blue.  Paint in the same direction to keep the canvas looking nice.

image.jpg

Step Two: Let the first coat dry about 10 minutes, then apply a second coat.

image.jpg

Step Three: Let second coat dry about 25-30 minutes.  Next, paint a white circle on the bottom right of the canvas.

image.jpg

Step Four: Let first coat dry about 10 minutes, then apply a second coat of the white paint.  When applying, touch up the outside of the white.  Also, be sure and paint in the same direction!

image.jpg

Step Five: While second coat is drying, Use your fingers and paint the snow flakes.

image.jpg

Step Six: After about 15 minutes of drying time, paint the top hat for the snowman.  I paint my outline first in black.

image.jpg

Step Seven: Fill in the outline.

image.jpg

Step Eight: While the top hat's first coat dries, paint the snowman's eyes using your finger.  These should be slightly larger than your snowflakes.

image.jpg

Step Nine: Using your fingers, paint the snowman's smile.  These dots should be slightly smaller than the snowflakes.  Also, apply a second coat of black paint to the top hat.  Touch up the outer lines of the top hat as well.

image.jpg

Step Ten: Using the small paintbrush, paint the carrot nose on the snowman.  Only one coat was necessary.  Now let dry overnight, and it is ready to display!
