Pink and Gray Elephant Themed Baby Shower
My best friend is also having a baby girl. She is due only 10 days after me. Our husbands are convinced we planned this, but we really didn't. Anyhow, my mom and I planned her an elephant themed baby shower. Her nursery colors are going to actually be yellow and gray, but we opted for pink and gray for the shower since she is having a girl. She is going to be using elephants in her nursery as well. There will be future posts regarding the crafts I did for the baby shower, but below is an overview!
We rented a historic home back in Tuscumbia, AL where most of her family is. It is called the Winston Home. It is a gorgeous home and needs little decorations. When people first entered, they were greeted with a hand made elephant door hanger that was pink and gray. Unfortunately I don't have a good picture of it from the shower!
Next was the guestbook table. I designed the guestbook myself after giving Emily some different options. I placed the balloons myself rather than having the guest place them. This allowed me to get a good distribution of balloons and only place the amount of balloons truly needed. Next to the guestbook was one of the two games we played. There was also a mini diaper cake on this table as added decor.
Most people may not have noticed, but above the piano was another mini diaper cake and a copy of Emily's invitation.
Next up was the favor and diaper table. The favors were tea light candles. The diapers were used for people to leave Emily and Justin late night messages for when they are changing those pesky diapers!
We also had a sign for the gift table. It wasn't necessary, but it continued the elephant theme.
Inside the main room, we had a table with the baby shower bingo cards and ultrasound pictures of Miss Lydia. The clothespin frame was a really neat find from Target. I plan to reuse it in Melody's room. I also found some adorable clothespins for it. We also placed the game gifts on this table so we wouldn't forget to give them out! Lastly, I made diaper storks to use as additional decor.
The first fireplace was already decorated, but we opted to add two additional mini diaper cakes that we had. It actually matched the decor really nice.
The plate and utensil table was fairly simple. We placed the main diaper cake on this table along with the pink plates and a basket full of utensils. Lastly, we spread elephant confetti throughout the table.
The second fireplace had the three onesies my husband had made for Lydia. He has a friend at work that does monogramming, so we came up with some ideas that he was able to recreate for us.
The cake table was pretty simple but really cute. My mom found someone to make a cake we had found online. It turned out super cute and was delicious. I found a pink cake cutter at Hobby Lobby to serve the cake with. Then we bought dessert plates, additional napkins, and forks to have.
The food table turned out really nice. In the center, we used a three tier cake stand to display chicken salad cups (fillo cups filled with chicken salad). On each side was two cake stands with veggie shot glasses. We bought plastic shot glasses from Party City. We then filled each with veggie dip, carrots, and celery. On the outside rim, we had Chick-Fil-A chicken nuggets, french onion dip with chips, pink Hershey's Kisses, pink peanut M&Ms, spinach dip with pita chips, nutter butters dipped in pink candy coating (we bought the pink candy coating at Hobby Lobby), and elephant shaped cantaloupe and honeydew melon. We did the nutter butters to play off of the elephant theme. Brad cut all of the fruit using a small cookie cutter I found from Amazon. Lastly, we bought pink party cups from Hobby Lobby and filled them with pink candy coated popcorn.
For the drinks, we borrowed my aunt's mason jar drink dispensers. We filled each one with pink lemonade and sweet tea. We added lemon to both for extra color. In the middle we had a tin filled with bottled water. We placed cute stickers on the tops of the bottled water. We bought the taller clear cups from Party City, and I found the pink straws at Target. For decor, we went ahead and added the straws to the cups.
The last craft pictures is the mommy-to-be ribbon corsage I made for Emily.
Be sure and stay tuned for all the craft blog posts to come. There were a lot of handmade things that we did for her shower, but I think it makes it a lot more special!
