DIY Cards for Dad

DIY Cards for Dad

So now that it is Father's Day, I can share these adorable cards that I made for Brad and our dads.  These will work for any dad, grandpa, great grandpa, or you can even switch them up for moms, grandmas, and great grandmas!  They will work for just about any card giving holiday as well.  Just change up the wording!

I love you 'this much!'

I decided to give this card to Brad since it did not require an envelope.  The cards I did for our dads I wanted to put in an envelope, so this wouldn't work for them.

  • Trace the hands of your baby/child; I only traced one hand and used it twice since Melody wasn't the most cooperative newborn!
  • Cut a long piece of paper about 1 inch thick and 12 inches in length
  • Fold the piece of paper like an accordion
  • You only need 12 squares.  Cut the rest off.
  • Glue one of the hands to the back of one of the first squares
  • On the outside of the hand, write "I love you..."; I did this in Sharpie, but you could use sticker letters if you wanted
  • Write "this much!" on each square leaving the first and last squares blank
  • Glue the other hand to the back of the last square
  • I signed the back of the hand for Melody and it's all ready to give to Brad!

Best "Grandpa" Hands Down

For my dad, I opted to make him this adorable card from all of us, but mostly Melody of course.

  • I took a piece of paper, and I folded it in half.  Using a Sharpie, I wrote "you are the", then I used cute sticker letters to read "best Grandpa".  You could use a Sharpie for all of it or sticker letters for all of it as well.
  • Inside the card, I used sticker letters to read "Hands Down".  Then I traced her hand and cut it out as if her hands were together face down.  You can even see a heart from the shape of her fingers! Lastly, I wrote "Happy Father's Day" with a Sharpie.  This can be customized for any holiday.

Best "Bubs" by Par

This card is a little more cumbersome, but adorable if you know someone into golf!

  • First, I folded blue paper in half.
  • I cut a golf tee out of yellow paper.
  • I used a circle cutter to cut a white golf ball.
  • Lastly, I traced Melody's hands on green paper multiple times.
  • I arranged all of these cut outs to make the hands look like grass, the golf tee is in the grass, and the golf ball is on top of the tee.
  • Then with stickers, I wrote "you are the Best Bubs by Par".  (We call Brad's dad Bubs.)
  • Inside the card, we wrote "Happy Father's Day" with a Sharpie.  Then I glued two cut outs of Melody's hands at the bottom.
