Patty Melts
As I have mentioned before, Brad loves patty melts. I made some breakfast ones a while back that were pretty good but pretty bad for you. Well I feel like these are not quite "as" bad for you. They are still full of butter, but you could probably find some healthier alternatives if you really want. I could not eat more than half, but Brad was able to finish the entire thing. Just a word of warning!
Ingredients
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 pound of beef
- 1 onion, sliced
- salt and pepper
- 4-5 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
- 8 slices of Swiss cheese
- 8 slices of sourdough bread
Instructions
1. In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoon butter over medium-high heat
2. Add sliced onions for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft and golden
3. While onions cook, mix together beef, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce; form into four patties
4. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a separate skillet over medium-high heat
5. Add hamburger patties and cook on both sides until done to your liking
6. Once onions and beef are done, melt 2 more tablespoons of butter over medium heat in another skillet (or you can reuse one like we did!)
7. Assemble sandwiches inside of the skillet: slice of bread, slice of cheese, patty, 1/4 of the cooked onions, slice of cheese, slice of bread.
8. Remove from skillet and add more butter to melt; then add the assembled patty on the opposite side.
9. Continue until all 4 patty melts are cooked.
10. Serve!
