Melody's Transition to a Toddler Bed
So we have finally come to the point that we had to convert Melody’s crib to a toddler bed. She was starting to put her legs over the crib in an effort to climb out. She never succeeded at climbing out thankfully. And we waited until after our Disney trip in February because we didn’t want her to refuse to sleep in a pack and play while there.
So the weekend after returning from Disney, we let Melody help convert her bed! She enjoyed helping.
And then we outfitted her bed with new bedding! I bought a solid gray sheet set, Disney princess pillow sham, and a pink and white quilt from Pottery Barn Outlet in Memphis while we were visiting Brad’s family before our Disney trip. I also ordered her a toddler pillow from Amazon.
We let her nap in her bed for the first time that day, and she did really well. But the test was at bedtime…
And she did great! I was nervous about the pillow and covers since those are things she was not used to, but she did not complain one bit. I have noticed sometimes she sleeps with the pillow covering part of her head, and most night she will kick most of her covers off. But she still is sleeping through the night just as before. We were sure to let her keep her usual blanket and night-nights to help with the transition. Before we go to bed, we have been opening her door so that she can come get us if she wants. And she won’t lock herself in her room. She is still discovering what she can do after waking up though. So we will see how it continues!
