Snow White Party Cookies
I decided earlier in the year that I wanted to make iced sugar cookies for Melody’s birthday party this year. They are so expensive to buy, but they make parties so adorable. So I searched and found a recipe that worked perfectly (cookie recipe and icing recipe). It took me quite a few attempts to get the icing perfected, but eventually I produced the perfect consistency for icing cookies.
The them for Melody’s birthday party was Snow White. I decided to try and play off of the apples as much as possible. Brad’s friend has a 3D printer, and he made the cookie cutter for me. There are plenty on Amazon if you don’t have a creative friend like us though! A last minute purchase was a 3 cookie cutter. We happened to be at Michael’s for something totally unrelated, and I found this super cheap cookie cutter (like $0.99). So I bought it knowing I wouldn’t get a whole lot of use out of it since she only turns 3 once ha! But I did use it for a friend of mine for her daughter’s 3rd birthday too!
Melody’s birthday party was on a Sunday, and I baked the cookies Thursday morning. Melody loves helping (she hates eating these cookies though…fun fact, she ONLY likes store bought chocolate chip cookies).
I wanted the cookies to have plenty of time to cool, and I knew Friday would be slightly busy since Brad’s family was coming to town, and I still had to bake a cake. So the cookies cooled Thursday, and Friday while the cake was baking, I started to ice the cookies. Luckily most all of the cookies are red, but that means making one huge pot of red icing so you don’t have to match more later. I did a whole batch of icing and colored it red. Then I iced all of the apples first. This way if I ran out of red, I could always use another color for the 3s. Luckily I had plenty for all of the 3s too. Then I had to mix up a small batch (I did 1/3) and divided it in half for green and brown. Unfortunately I didn’t have a hand to take pictures of me icing the cookies.
I kept the cookies in a deep cookie sheet and covered them until Sunday for the party. The cookies appeared to be a hit, and everyone loved them. We did have a few leftover, but I sent them to work with Brad. They are very, very sinful!!
