Frontier Airlines
Back in October we flew to Disney via Frontier Airlines. It was my first time flying with them, but my mom had flown with them before to Las Vegas from Nashville. She didn’t have the best experience, but we were hoping for a great experience
Online check in takes some times. They try and get you to upgrade every. single. thing. But it went much smoother than Silver. Airport check in was a breeze. Much quicker than that of Silver. From our car to the gate was 30 minutes. So that included checking in and going through security.
We boarded on-time, and we were seated by 6:40 pm. Departure was scheduled for 7:17 pm. Melody did have a breakdown because she was in the middle not long after the picture below was taken. So we did move her to the window seat (you can see that picture at the very bottom). Now as far as the accommodations go…the seats and space given were on par to Southwest in my opinion. The seats aren’t fancy, but it still provided us plenty of room I thought. The tray table was exceptionally small and there was nothing fancy offered, but it is a budget airline, so I didn’t expect much. There was also plenty of overhead space if needed. We were able to use the space under the chairs in front of us for our few bags.
The snack/drink menu actually wasn’t too bad I thought. The prices seemed reasonable for airline snacks. They do NOT serve anything for free such as a single soda or snack. But you could bring things on board if you wanted to. We opted to buy something on board instead.
I ordered the cub snack pack with the intention of splitting it with Melody. It was only $4.99 and came with 4 small snacks. It gave us a variety, and we could easily split it. They did require I pay with a credit card, FYI. I will say, the snacks were MUCH smaller than I anticipated. Had I known, I would have ordered 2 honestly. I still think the price is fair compared to purchasing snacks at the airport or other airlines though.
Overall we had a really good flight to Orlando. We did have a delay on the way home, but it was not the airlines fault. Security wanted to do a sweep of the plane. But as soon as that was cleared, we were boarded. I would fly Frontier again in a heartbeat if the timing worked and the price was right. When comparing Frontier to other airlines, you do have to consider all the extras you may buy when flying Frontier. They charge you for every little thing. We had to pay to pick our seats, to check our luggage, to bring a carry on (personal item is free), snacks, drinks, etc. Frontier in Huntsville also has a random schedule. They only fly 2-3 times a week and once on that day. So the flight has to just work perfectly. It worked for this trip, but it was still hard. We flew late at night on a Tuesday, and we flew super early in the morning on Sunday. I think if it works for your schedule and it is cheaper, definitely try them.
