Dance Recital 2021
So two weeks ago, we celebrated Melody’s THIRD dance recital. The stress around recitals never gets easier. Every year there is new circumstances that make it even more chaotic than the previous year. I am also bias in that I thought our recital last year was the best. It was NOT a full recital due to COVID, but for kids this age, I think it was perfect! But we had a traditional recital, but with less people due to social distancing.
So rehearsal started the chaos. I really had hoped getting past rehearsal would give us comfort on recital day, but it did not. But after a lot of sitting and waiting, we finally got to watch our girls doing their rehearsal. We did snap a lot of pictures backstage.
Both girls requested popcorn afterwards, and it was such a big day, we gave in. Both also had preschool graduations that evening!
Recital day was super chaotic. We were only given 5 tickets per dancer. The doors opened at 9. Well social distancing was not even thought of during this while waiting outside to get in. Then when the opened the doors, most families found a lot of seats already taken by people who snuck in through other doors earlier that morning. Thankfully we did have decent seats, but there were a lot of parents who got there closer to 9:30 who were not so lucky. Many didn’t find seats, and when they did they were in the balcony area. The way the venue did the seats was making every other row off to not be used. So it caused a lot of issues with families wanting good seats. Hopefully this won’t be an issue next year though! But Melody and I had plenty of time backstage to take some selfies. She didn’t wake up feeling super awesome, and she hates getting her hair done for recitals. So many tears were shed before this, ha.
Then the girlies performed!
After the show, we took lots of pictures too!
Overall they did so good this year even with the craziness of COVID!
