Hollywood and Vine Play 'n Dine

Hollywood and Vine Play 'n Dine

When we visited Disney World back in May 2021, character meals were still minimal and came with little contact even when present. One we could not get before arriving was Hollywood and Vine during the breakfast hours. During those hours you are greeted with Disney Jr. characters. I thought for sure Melody would love this and be less skeptical. She is obsessed with Doc McStuffins, and she is a fan of Fancy Nancy. With little contact as an added bonus, I really wanted to snag this reservation. Well the night before a 9 am reservation opened up, so I grabbed it.

We arrived at Hollywood Studios in plenty of time, so we wandered and shopped some waiting until we could check in. Since our reservation was at 9, we waited until 8:40 to check in on the app. Checking in on the app is nice, but you cannot check in any earlier than 20 minutes beforehand. It is super easy and allows for you to add celebrations, allergies, etc.

Our table was ready about 5 minutes later.

When you first walk in, they have their usual photo opp set up. The big difference here is you are in the picture without characters. So we opted to take a picture of just Melody. They also no longer do this photo through Photopass like they have in years’ past.

They did ask we keep our mask on until our drinks or food arrived. I didn’t entirely get it since we still had contact with our waitress even after we received our drinks, but we followed their rules. As far as the food goes, they bring the table a pastry basket. I wished there was more, but it was all still really good.

I got the four egg cheese omelet (as did my mom and Brad). I loved the omelet itself. It had a really good amount of cheese which I loved. I also like that the meat was on the side instead of inside the omelet. I could have done without the tomato jam. I honestly thought it would be on the side in a cup, but it was on top of the omelet. It was ok, but not sometime I would want again. Instead I would ask them to leave it off or put it on the side. The potatoes were also good. Not your normal breakfast potatoes, but still good. The bacon was nice and crispy. Side note to all of these meals, the country sausage is not what one would expect. I wished I had gotten a picture, but if you are curious, I am sure you can google and find one. We all expected it to be sausage links, but instead, it was almost like small bratwurst or even smoked sausage cut up then cooked with bellpeppers and onions. Totally unexpected, and my dad would have gotten bacon had he known.

For Melody, I ordered the kid’s pancakes with fruit and potatoes. Her pancakes came with blueberries (which we didn’t expect), but after scrapping them off, she miraculously ate them. The fruit was just cantaloupe, honeydew, and grapes. The potatoes were simply oven roasted potatoes and didn't have all of the seasonings and added vegetables found on the adult entrees.

The characters were actually really great here. We saw each of the 4 characters multiple times. They stood pretty far off, and we could have had a nice distant selfie, but Melody still wasn’t super comfortable with them. She did wave a few times though.

Overall, I think if your child loves these characters, this is a great value. All of the food was really good, and the characters were fun. We never felt rush, and they did give us an autograph card. For us, I do wish we had not booked it just because this was such a short trip, and we felt our time at Hollywood Studios was really rushed between dining and Rise. However, I would not hesitate to eat here again for breakfast if we have more time on a future trip!
