Disney World Day Three March 2023
Our third day didn’t go quite as planned, but we also all went in different directions at different times. Generally we spent the morning at Magic Kingdom, and we spent the evening at Epcot. Bob planned to play golf that morning, so he did not plan to come to Magic Kingdom. We had plans to meet up with him at some point in between Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. Where things went in a different direction is when I woke up not feeling so great. I had a headache and still had some vertigo issues. I ended up sleeping in and set an alarm to make sure I would make it to Magic Kingdom in time for our dining reservation for a late breakfast. However, Brad, his mom, and Melody went ahead and went to the park in time for rope drop. I did get up and buy Rise of the Resistance for all 5 of us, and Genie+ for the 4 of us doing Magic Kingdom. I booked Big Thunder Mountain first thing since that was a must for Melody.
Brad was great about taking pictures so that I had them. While I don’t have a picture, they did leave so early that it was still dark. But they made it in time for early entry which was at 7:30 am. They basically let Melody do what she wanted that morning. She started with teacups, Dumbo, Barnstormer, Tomorrowland Speedway, PeopleMover, and Astro Orbiter. It was a COLD morning, and Brad said Astro Orbiter was a bad idea for that reason, ha. I am pretty sure they rode a few of the rides multiple times too, and they were finished with all of that by 9:15 am. It was quite productive.
I was up, ready, and leaving by 8:30. I walked over to the Polynesian, then I took the monorail to Magic Kingdom. It was really a breeze, and I was in the park meeting up with Brad around 9:15 as they finished Astro Orbiter. Once we met up, we went and rode Little Mermaid before heading to our breakfast reservation. We did see the stepsisters as we were walking to the castle.
Our reservation was at 10:05 am, and we were called back at 10:15. It was an interesting setup that I will explain more of in a future post all about our experience here. None of us had ever had a meal in the castle, and it was definitely something Vicki wanted to do. We almost didn’t because originally when I booked it, the princesses were not going to be there. But once we found out they would be there, we kept it. I was happy we did do breakfast vs. lunch too. We were all done around 11 am.
We had a few minutes to kill before our Genie+ was available, so we let Melody play some at the small playground at Splash Mountain. Melody loved Big Thunder just as much as she had remembered loving it before. We also used a Genie+ for Haunted Mansion and it’s a small world.
Once we finished, we decided to head out and meet Bob. It was roughly 2 pm. We did grab some pictures on Main Street before making our way to the monorail.
Melody fell asleep on the monorail. Instead of going back to the hotel and getting Bob, we decided to have him meet us at the Polynesian. We hung out there and had a snack while Melody napped. Once she woke up, we decided to grab a bus from there to Hollywood Studios.
We were in the park and waiting for the Frozen Sing-a-Long to begin around 4:15 pm. Melody really seemed to love it this time, and Brad’s parents enjoyed the humor too.
I grabbed a Genie+ for Alien Swirling Saucers. We swapped MagicBands around so that Melody could ride it twice - once with Brad and once with me.
We then went to dinner at the Sci Fi Dine In. After dinner, we went and used our Lightning Lane for Rise of the Resistance. It went over MUCH better with Melody this time, and she actually seemed to like it. Brad parents really enjoyed it too.
After the ride, Brad looked a bit through Batuu, then we grabbed some blue milk. While in line we noticed a photographer, and we decided to grab some pictures. We also had a fun encounter with Melody and a stormtrooper while in line for the photographer. It was so empty. We had never really been in Galaxy’s Edge at night. The pictures turned out great!
I really, really wanted to see Fantasmic. There were two showings, and I already missed one during our Batuu adventure. Melody really wanted to ride Mickey and Minnie’s Railway, and I was afraid we just would not have time on Friday. So I decided to sacrifice the show for the ride. It was about a 35 minute wait, but Melody loved it as usual. After that, we headed to our bus stop. The bus stop at Hollywood was much more ideal since they had an actual number and slot for Shades of Green.
As far as Genie+ that day goes, we only used it for 4 rides. We did book Star Tours for later that evening, but Mickey and Minnie’s Railway won out. It was worth it though because we were able to avoid some long lines using it.
