Our Gender Reveals
I really wanted to have a gender reveal party for our family and friends to announce the gender of our baby. However, my mom and I were going to Disney in January, and I wanted to know before our trip. This did not line up with my 20 week appointment. Then with the holidays, it was impossible to have a party after finding out at 16 weeks. Therefore, we came up with different ways to tell our families over the holidays. Check out each way below!
DIY Ornament
Items Needed
- Plastic Clear Ornament
- Gender Specific Confetti
- Pink or Blue Ribbon
- Pink or Blue Sticker Letters
Instructions
1. Place the letters on the outside of the ornament. Ours says "It's a Girl!". We did the "Girl!" in a larger font.
2. Next add the confetti to the inside of the ornament.
3. Lastly, add the top back to the ornament and tie the ribbon to the top.
We wrapped the ornament in a box and gave it to both of our parents for Christmas. For my in-laws, we gave it to them the day before Christmas Eve. We told them we had a special present we wanted to give them that they might can use early. We gave my parents theirs on Christmas morning just as part of their normal Christmas gifts. I think both parents were surprised. The video is at the bottom of the page with their reactions.
Balloon Reveal
We struggled on deciding on how to tell my extended family at our family Christmas gathering. We had a day to plan it with my mom. We decided to tell them with balloons. The day after Christmas, we went to Publix, and I purchased an "It's a Girl" balloon and a couple of pink balloons. When we got back, my dad made us a box to put the balloons in. Then we wrapped the box and acted like it was party of our "Greedy Santa" gifts. Since our family Christmas was at my parents' house, we were able to control the numbers. I set aside number 1 and had it hidden for me. We just added 1 extra number to the pile. So the numbers really started with 2 to make it fair for everyone else. But I was able to go first, select my present, and surprise my family. The video is at the bottom of the page with their reactions.
Pictionary Reveal
We contemplated on how to tell Brad's extended family. We knew that his aunt was planning to play some games at our family gathering. So the day of, we told her that we wanted to make an announcement using a game. We told her it would be a gender reveal, but we didn't tell her the gender. She gave us a few ideas, but we decided to make it a pictionary game. Brad used his skills, and he drew the announcement. Of course, no one knew the intent was an announcement, so it was really fun to see all of their reactions. The video is below of their reactions.
Lego Reveal
For Facebook, we wanted something different that wasn't Disney related since our pregnancy announcement was Disney. We decided to make a Lego announcement since we have a huge love for Legos. Check it out below!
