Hot Fudge Cake
Brad LOVES Shoney's Hot Fudge Cake. We don't have a decent Shoney's nearby, so he rarely gets it. One day, I decided to surprise him and try to recreate it. I found some sample recipes online, and I went with the easiest. It's a great dessert to freeze and eat on for a while too! Check it out below!
Ingredients
- 1 box of Devil's Food Cake Mix
- 3 eggs (per cake mix)
- 1 1/3 cups of water (per cake mix)
- 1/3 cup of vegetable oil (per cake mix)
- 1 box of vanilla ice cream (half gallon)
- 1 jar of hot fudge sauce
- Whipped Cream
Instructions
1. Prepare the cake mix per the instructions on the box.
2. In a 13x9 greased pan, scoop 4 cups of the batter into the pan. The remaining batter is not needed.
3. Bake the cake per the instructions on the box.
4. Let cake cool (I used a wired rack).
5. Remove the cake from the pan (if you haven't already), place on parchment paper, and cut in half, lengthwise.
6. Remove the top portion, and place the parchment paper with the bottom portion of the cake back in the pan.
7. Remove the ice cream, and cut it in slices. You should have approximately 6 slices.
8. Place ice cream slices on top of the bottom portion of the cake. It is like a puzzle, and you may have to cut a few pieces to make them fit.
9. Place the top portion of the cake back on top of the ice cream.
10. Cover in foil and freeze for at least a few hours.
11. When ready, cut the slices you want and place on a plate (makes 12 slices).
12. Heat the hot fudge per the container, and top the cake.
13. Add whipped cream on top of the cake and fudge...serve!
