Bathroom Remodel
Our house contains two bathrooms, a master bathroom and a guest bathroom. Our guest bathroom did not necessarily have a theme. We had a lot of red and gold throughout the bathroom. The walls were beige, and we do not use a shower curtain because we have a shower door instead. After having Melody, we decided we wanted to revamp the bathroom to make it kid-friendly. We started looking into decorations and paint colors late February, and we began work at the end of March. While this wasn't a full remodel, we did repaint and redecorate.
The first item we purchased were the hand towels. We found this at The Pottery Barn Outlet in Memphis. This was our inspiration for the entire bathroom. Prior to finding these, we knew we wanted an ocean/fish theme. We only bought the hand towel (we later purchased the wash cloth, but we never purchased any of the bath towels).
Next up was determining what color to paint the walls. We picked three different blues and painted them on the existing walls to help us pick.
Now it was time to paint!
After we painted, we installed a new light fixture above the sink. I also added the hand towels just to see what they look like.
We found a new hand towel rack and toilet paper holder from Walmart that we installed.
I found all of the bathroom accessories from Target for the most part. They are not specifically fish or ocean themed, but they are very kiddy which was also what we were going for.
Brad had the idea to get a glass frame and use my Silhouette Cameo to cut a mermaid. One night, I drew one using the Silhouette Cameo software. We found pink cardstock at Hobby Lobby, and we bought a glass wall frame from Target. We opted for a white frame to better match the room.
Our last purchases were from At Home. We found a cute octopus hook we decided to use as a towel hook. I also found some cute pink roses that I have on the back of the toilet to add a little color. I also found a simple pink bath mat from Amazon to add.
I think the overall bathroom turned out adorable and is very suitable for a kid. We will later add things such as a step stool in the future. But for now it is perfect. It did not take us long to do the manual work, but it did take me sometime to find all of the decor that I wanted. I think overall, it took 6 weeks or so.
