Disney Day 4 - Wednesday
Today was meant to be our "break" day. We did have lunch reservations at Biergarten at Epcot along with a couple of Fastpasses. None of our Fastpasses were "required", but since we had a park ticket that day, we opted to book some Fatpasses just in case. The night before, Brad and I decided to try and make it to Epcot at park opening and do a few things before lunch. Then we could spend the afternoon and evening around the resort or at Downtown Disney.
We woke up fairly early, ate breakfast, got ready, and we were at Epcot by 9 am (park opening). It was just Brad, Melody and me. Emily and Justin wanted to sleep in more (they aren't morning people like we are). It also turns out they all had stuffy, runny noses and didn't feel super great. We decided to ride all the rides that we could in Future World West.
We went straight to The Seas with Nemo. I really love this ride. It rarely has a wait, and I love the ride itself. I also find it so neat the way they get the fish to appear like they are in the aquarium near the end! Afterwards we went and did Turtle Talk. We have never seen the show, but it was about to start, so we decided to give it a try. Melody wasn't a huge fan of the wait (even though it was literally about 3 minutes), and she didn't really care for the show. It was really cute though, and I think she will enjoy it in a few years.
We headed to Living with the Land to use a Fastpass. We really didn't need it, but I hated not to use it. Next up was Journey into Imagination with Figment. This is another ride Brad dislikes. Mainly he hates the song because it will be stuck in your head all day! Melody actually loved this ride. She interacted most with it. Then at the end, we let her play for 15 minutes or so and burn a bit of energy!
We strolled over to Germany for our lunch reservation. We let Melody relax some in the stroller until Emily and Justin arrived. They came straight from their room to lunch. We checked in around 11:30 at Biergarten. We had to wait about 5-10 minutes until they officially opened it appeared.
There was one table that sat down before us, then our pager buzzed. Biergarten is setup in tables of eight. I knew this before booking, but since we had a party of 6, I hoped we would have a table to ourselves. Unfortunately I was wrong [even though the place was empty]. We sat with two women. They seemed friendly and nice when we introduced ourselves to them. The waiter recommend it, ha! I am most positive we apologized in advance for our daughters' behavior.
We started to sit down, and the ladies were not happy about our seating arrangement. I told them they could sit wherever they like. The waiter had already left our highchairs in place of chairs, but we could easily move them. They wanted to be on the "entertainment" end. However, they wouldn't take me up on my offer, so they just sat on the opposite end. They also tried to sit on the same side together, which really didn't make any sense. It would split up our families (it would leave Emily and Lydia on one side, Brad, Justin, Melody and me on the other.). It would also put one of them beside Lydia. The two women were a mother-daughter pair. The mother lived in Orlando, and it was her birthday. The daughter was visiting. The mother was not happy at all the entire meal. The daughter was really friendly and talkative, however.
The food was good. I really loved the salad (weird, I know). I didn't care for much of the meats, but in general, the food was nice. I tried the beer sampler, but didn't love any that were offered. I gave them all to Justin! The entertainment was also much shorter than I expected. I thought they would be playing most of our meal, but that was not the case. I don't expect to dine here again unless I have a party of 7 or more. I wasn't a fan of having to share the table with strangers.
After lunch, Brad and I went to Japan and did some shopping. Emily and Justin decided to go park exploring. They actually stayed at the park the rest of the day and into the evening. No sooner than we got to Japan, Melody was passed out. And I mean PASSED OUT! In the most uncomfortable way possible. We adjusted her stroller and her to be in a better sleep position.
We didn't buy anything quite yet. We mainly just wanted to look around and have an idea of what we may want to buy. This is Brad's absolutely favorite store. We decided to head back to the room, but Brad and I did stop and take a picture on our way!
We got back to the room around 1:30. Melody was awake at this point, but we let her run around the room and relax a bit. I also cleaned out our park bag since we really wouldn't need much if we got back out.
We decided to head to Downtown Disney around 2:30 and do some shopping. Before we left, I decided to cancel my part of our dinner reservation for tomorrow at Hollywood and Vine. Emily, Justin and Lydia kept the reservation, but because of Melody's fear at both Garden Grill meals, I decided not to waste our meal credit and prevent them from having a decent character experience. We figured we could book something else tomorrow or maybe even find something tonight.
The changes to Downtown Disney aka Disney Springs just isn't that appealing to us. We still like to go and visit the Lego Store, World of Disney, and Mickey's Pantry. We visited all of those plus Disney's Days of Christmas. I bought a pair of the rose gold Mickey ears, but that was all. We also went to Goofy's Candy Co. in hopes of finding some things to spend the snack credits we have on. But that was of no luck.
So we decided to go catch a bus back to our hotel. The buses for our resort are AWFUL. We waited about 25 minutes for a bus. This wouldn't be so bad if we didn't see so many of the same buses going by but ours! While waiting I decided to see what dinner reservations were available for that evening. I was really hoping if we booked something it would be at our hotel. I hated to walk back to the parks. After some searching, I was able to get a reservation for Cape May Cafe at 7:30. It was later than we preferred, but it worked.
We got back to our room around 5:45. I decided to go ahead and take a shower, and we went ahead and gave Melody a bath. It would make our late return from dinner a bit easier. I also got our park bag ready as much as I could. We headed over to Cape May around 7. We decided to try and check in early and see if we might be seated sooner. We waited about 10 minutes and we were seated!
After being seated, our waitress came and took our drink orders. I wanted coke, and I ordered a milk for Melody. Due to Brad's diabetes, he asked if they had light lemonade. It was what he was drinking from the Freestyle machines. She first said that the light lemonade was pomegranate flavor. He said he would just get water then. She then said they did have regular light lemonade, but she was just offering pomegranate. So he accepted it.
We then helped ourselves to the buffet. I absolutely love the buffet here. The food is always hot and fresh, and who can pass up all-you-can-eat crab legs!?
Well our waitress wasn't seen much again. She did finally over me a refill. She asked if I was drinking Diet Coke. I told her no, Coke. Yet she still brought me Diet Coke. Unfortunately I didn't notice this until she had already left the table and was out of sight. Brad was so desperate for a refill he asked another waitress. She wasn't too pleased, but went and got him light lemonade. She brought out the pomegranate version. Brad told her he wanted regular light lemonade. She said they only had pomegranate light lemonade. So apparently our waitress brought him the full sugar lemonade. I explained the frustration with him being a diabetic and how bad that was. She just apologized and went on. It was exceptionally frustrating. We were not pleased with our waitress to say the least.
We finished up around 8:30, and we headed to the Beach Club Marketplace to get some milk for Melody. They had a larger container of milk that was a snack credit in comparison to the small sized milk at the Yacht Club. We also stopped by Beaches and Cream. We wanted to see if they had any sugar free options and the line was short. I got a double scoop cookies and cream ice cream (delicious!), and they also had sugar free vanilla/chocolate swirl. Brad had them make it into a milkshake. He said it was really good too.
Once finished, we headed back to the room and went to bed. Brad showered, and Melody and I went right down. We had an early day planned for tomorrow at Magic Kingdom so sleep was needed!
We had a fairly break-like day as we hoped. We did quite a few rides and were going almost the entire day, but we were able to spend some time away from the parks which was what the main goal was.
