Dance Teacher Gifts
This is Melody’s first year in dance. And since Christmas is during the dance year, I wanted to do a small gift for her teachers. She has one teacher and two assistants. For Christmas, I decided to get them all the same gift. One of the assistants is a boy, so I had to keep that in mind when deciding on a gift to give. I also wanted something that representing dance in some way. This made things really difficult. But I fell back to a super easy gift of chocolate. Chocolate works for all genders and most people like it. So I knew I wanted to do something like that. I had found some cute ideas with mason jars that made the jar look like a reindeer. Well that was a bit too much work for me. So instead, I played off the idea of mason jars, and I decided to decorate them with vinyl using my Silhouette Cameo. See how I did it below (oh, and this could easily be done without a Silhouette!).
I started out with 3 mason jars. I removed the lids, and I cleaned the glass with windex.
I wanted each jar to have something different on them, so I cut out a snowman, Christmas tree, and a candy cane. If you don’t have a machine, you could use some other permanent sticker option. You can also find this on Etsy too. To make the transition smooth, I used transfer tape. However with this small of a job and since it is just one piece, I could have done without it I am sure.
I attached the sticker to the opposite side of the jar with the company logo in it. I used a scrapper to help make sure it was flat on the glass.
Next I filled each one up with Christmas themed Hershey kisses. I was careful of the colors so the vinyl would stand out.
Now to make it dance-like. I bought some white tulle at Walmart. Unfortunately the green they had was too bright and the red was full glitter. So white it was. I cut a circle out of the tulle that had about a 6 inch diameter. The circle was far from perfect but it was obvious. I then placed it over the opening of the jar, then I placed the lid on top of the jar. This was supposed to give it the look of a tutu. While I am sure the teachers will understand what the meaning is, it doesn’t quite standout like I had hoped. I think red or green tulle would have been better. And better than that would have been tulle circles, but I couldn't find those either.
And they are complete! Inexpensive, cute, and easy to make!
To make transport easier and to keep the jars from breaking, I placed each one in a small bag.
