Bluewater Grille
When we went to Chattanooga back in June, we ate at Bluewater Grille. We actually debated between it and Big River Grille, but we ultimately decided on Bluewater because of its menu. It had more options that sounded better to us at the time.
We arrived around 5:30 on a Saturday night. I contemplated getting a reservation, but when I looked at there were plenty, so we opted to just walk in. We were able to be seated immediately. The dining room itself was very open. They had booths along the walls and one set in the middle. Then there were tables all around and in between. The tables are fairly close together too. We could hear the conversations of the people at the table next to us very clearly. There was a bar area near the front, and there was also outdoor seating.
We were seated at a 4 person table. We wanted a booth, but the waitress seemed hesitant to give us one, so we just stuck with the table. Booths just tend to be easier with Melody because we have reached the age where she refuses to sit in a high chair at a restaurant. So we just let her sit in the booth or in a chair if at a table. This usually works well for us.
Below is a copy of their kids menu. I didn't notice one online, so I was sure to take a picture of it.
To start off, I ordered a Garden Collins. I don't drink often, so I like to try new drinks. This one wasn't amazing by any means. It was very dull and tasted watered down. It was almost just like cucumber water. Very disappointing, but at least I tried something new.
The waitress also brought us some rolls while we contemplated dinner. Melody loved the rolls, and so did I. They looked similar to Sister Schubert dinner rolls, but they tasted much better. They were super soft and almost melted in your mouth! We easily devoured a basket between Melody and me.
To start with, I ordered a cup of lobster bisque. It was really good, but not quite as good as Grille 29 which has some of my favorite lobster bisque. Thankfully it wasn't too tomato-ey, and there was plenty of lobster included.
While we waited on our entrees, Melody was kept entertained with the Amazon tablet! It was our lifesaver on this trip!
For dinner, we ordered Melody chicken fingers with french fries. Of course she is currently anti-chicken and only eats peanut butter, so, oh well. I tried the chicken and fries myself, and they were both really good. And their ranch was amazing too.
For my entree, I had the special for the night. It was mahi mahi with shoestring potatoes and mixed vegetables. The mahi mahi was HUGE. But the flavor was great. It was seared and cooked perfectly. It was so large, Brad had to help eat some of it. The shoestring potatoes were ok, but I preferred Melody's fries and Brad's grits (see below). The mixed vegetables were tomatoes and asparagus. Both were pretty good with the asparagus being the better of the two by far.
Brad ordered the seared tuna, but he asked for cheese grits and green beans for his sides. I didn't try the tuna, but he loved it. I just can't do the non-well done fish! The green beans were ok, nothing special. The cheese grits were delicious! It was on par with Grille 29 and The Oyster House in Gulf Shores. They were cheesier like the ones in Gulf Shores.
I would definitely recommend eating here to anyone looking for a nice sit-down restaurant. It is on the expensive side {it cost us $90 including tip}, but that's part of vacations. If we have time on future trips, we will go back too.
