Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers
On our way to Disney back in August, we stopped at Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers in Orlando. It was about a 5-10 minute drive from Disney itself, and it is next to one of the outlet malls. We had time to kill until my mom could meet up with us, and this sounded really good based on reviews online.
So the restaurant does have a drive thru, and it also has both outdoor and indoor seating. The inside looks very similar to a Steak and Shake. Lots of red and checkered floors. It has the feel of an old style diner with updated features of course.
You order at the counter and they either call your number (if they are busy), or in our case they bring you your food.
They have a beverage dispenser and their own fry sauce. They have both a regular and spicy one. I prefer the regular one but the spicy was good too. It is almost a ketchup/mayo mixture. Just a ordinary fry sauce, in my opinion, but it was good.
Brad and I both ordered the burgers and fries. Mine had everything but mustard on it, and Brad’s was ketchup only of course. The burgers and fries both are very similar to Steak and Shake. The burgers are very thin (my FAVORITE). The toppings seem fresher and the burger itself was better. The fries were shoestring fries. They were good.
Melody ordered the kids chicken tenders. They were ok. Again, nothing spectacular but the burgers are truly one of the two main things here.
Then of course we had to have dessert. Brad ordered the chocolate brownie delight sundae with vanilla custard. It was delicious and much better than the desserts found at Steak and Shake in my opinion.
I ordered the PBC & B Sundae. Oh if you love peanut butter, it is a must! It is vanilla custard, Reese’s, bananas, and whipped cream. I LOVED it.
Melody simply had the vanilla custard in a cup.
The custard itself isn’t something to call home about, but the concoctions they come up with it are amazing. The burgers and the desserts are the best here. And we recently found out we are getting one in Huntsville. While I am thrilled, my waistline is not, ha! Regardless, if you are near one, try it!
