Cookie Icing

Cookie Icing

I made these sugar cookies a while back to test out the recipe I found. They cookies themselves turned out delicious. The website also had a icing recipe that I wanted to try. My first attempt was a failure. It was far too runny. But with time I got better. I still have some trouble getting it just the right consistency, but the good thing is you can add a little more milk or powdered sugar to help. Also keep in mind the liquid that will be added from any food coloring you use.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of powdered sugar

  • 2 tablespoons of corn syrup

  • 3-4 tablespoons of milk

  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla

Instructions

1. In a bowl mix together the ingredients starting with around 3 tablespoons of milk. Add milk as needed to get the right consistency. You want it thick so that it doesn’t run, but you want it thin enough to put in an icing bag without bursting the bag open. If you get it too thin add more powdered sugar.

2. Separate into bowls and add food coloring if you desire.

3. Add to icing bags and ice cookies. I start with outlining all of the cookies. Then I go back and fill in. If I am using many colors, I ice a few, fill in, ice a few more, etc.

3. Let sit for around 24 hours to full harden so that they can be stacked on top of each other.
