I know we are beyond Mardi Gras, but I did want to share this very easy king cake recipe I found on TikTok. It is mostly about presentation and buying the right cinnamon rolls!
I love making s’mores. I went through a phase of making s’mores at home in the microwave probably once a week for a while. I have wanted to make a s’mores dip for quite sometime, but it makes a lot, so I needed a group to make it for. So for Christmas with the Owens, I made it. It was quite delicious and actually easy to reheat.
I made this donut holes early during the pandemic for Melody. I actually did it because I went to Dunkin’ Donuts and they didn’t have any powdered donuts (regular or munchkin). I had this recipe tucked away for a while, so it was the perfect opportunity to use it.
As I have mentioned many times, Melody loves chocolate chip cookies, but she hates any I ever make. So anytime I see a new, good looking recipe to try, I try it. These were by far my favorite of all that I have made. They are HUGE. But Melody still prefers Chips Ahoy!
I love that this cheesecake is a no bake recipe, and in most cases, I usually have all of the ingredients on hand. So that means this is a super easy dessert I can whip up on whim if needed!
Back in April, not long after the pandemic began, Disney released their infamous churro recipe. We decided to make them at home one afternoon, and they were a hit. They did not look anything like the ones I get at Disney, but they were still delicious. We also had them in a few different ways. Check it out below.
This is another discovered recipe that I made years ago (notice baby Melody down below!). Lemon bars are super yummy, and I am glad I found this because these are fairly easy to make and we almost always have these ingredients on hand!
So this is one of those recipes I have seen floating around facebook for some time. I actually bought all the ingredients with the thought I would make it for Emily and Justin during a game night. But then the Corona Virus hit, and we haven’t seen then in well over a month. So I gave up and made it for Brad and me. It is really good, but it does make a LOT. So we wasted probably half of it.
We love good homemade ice cream, and when we were given an electric automatic ice cream maker as a wedding present we were thrilled. This is so much easier than rock salt and all that other fuss. You simply freeze the insert overnight, then it’s ready to go. This recipe is also super easy and inexpensive. Even Melody loved it, and she is picky about homemade desserts!
We love making Smores, but making them outside isn’t really the best option. So we make them in the microwave. It’s super easy, not messy, and doesn’t require any fire, ha. The fire is Melody’s favorite part, but we just save that for camping!
So I have made chocolate chip cookies before, but Melody won’t eat those. And I am really trying hard to find a recipe she will eat. But honestly, she wouldn’t even eat this one. I made these for her actual birthday. But all she wants is stinking Chips Ahoy! Oh well, these are really good but taste much better served warm.
I made these sugar cookies a while back to test out the recipe I found. They cookies themselves turned out delicious. The website also had a icing recipe that I wanted to try. My first attempt was a failure. It was far too runny. But with time I got better. I still have some trouble getting it just the right consistency, but the good thing is you can add a little more milk or powdered sugar to help. Also keep in mind the liquid that will be added from any food coloring you use.
Brad is a sugar cookie lover in our house, but I have cut back on making them since he is diabetic. Well I still make them for special occasions, and currently I am making them to test icing them for Melody’s third birthday coming up. Well this recipe below is my favorite for making cut-out cookies. This website also has an icing recipe, but I will include that later once I perfect mine, ha!
I needed to make a dessert to take to Emily and Justin’s one evening for board games. I wanted to do angel food cake, but I couldn’t find any. So I decided to whip up a semi healthy dessert using things I already had at home.
One of Melody's favorite desserts is chocolate chip cookies. I have never really made them because Brad won't eat them. But since I discovered she loves them, I decided to make some. I used a Martha Stewart recipe I found online. I did half her recipe.
I sort of came up with this recipe on my own. I wanted some easy cheesecake, so I researched some different quick cheesecake recipes. That is when I ran across cheesecake balls. I couldn't find a recipe I loved, so I combined a few to get what I wanted. Check it out below!
Brad LOVES sugar. And until recently, it was a major part of his diet. Neither of us really thought much about how much sugar we had in a day. Well in late November, Brad was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. We weren't super surprised, but it was still disappointing. Well the point of all that, is this was an amazing recipe find prior to his diabetes. It was an easy muffin to make at home, and it was delicious! Unfortunately this aren't muffins I will be making again anytime soon [unless I come up with a sugar-free/low sugar recipe!]. But if you love cinnamon and sugar, try these! Plus they are Pioneer Woman...
Melody loves strawberry muffins and strawberry pop tarts. I found this recipe on Pioneer Woman's website. I thought it sounded perfect to try with Melody. Well I learned a few things from making this recipe. One...a fork is not the same as a pastry cutter. I have since bought a pastry cutter! Two...giving this to a kid is SUPER messy. Crumbs EVERYWHERE!!! It was still a hit with her though!
I found this recipe on Pinterest a while back. I happened to have all of the ingredients on hand, so I decide to fix them one day for Brad. He loves cream cheese anything and sugar cookies, so it only made sense. They were super good, but I had to like quadruple the frosting recipe to cover all of the cookies. Check it out below!
I wanted a yummy dessert one evening, and I saw in a Parent's Magazine where parents would combine different things to make "sandwiches". I decided to make our own ice cream sandwiches. It was super easy to do, but it does take a bit of time to set in the freezer.
