Super Chix

Back before we went under quarantine due to COVID-19, we were still attempting to try new restaurants and go on “dates” on Fridays that Brad was off since Melody had school on Fridays. Well one of the last new places we tried was Super Chix. While it is still in Huntsville, it is about a 20 minute drive to get there. While that isn’t so bad, it isn’t the best for carryout for us for that reason. We went at lunchtime on a Friday while it was still fairly new. We were skeptical doing this because we were not sure we would find a seat, but we went for it anyhow.

So a lot about the restaurant reminds me of Chicken Guy! at Disney Springs at Disney World. They specialize in chicken, obviously. They have chicken sandwiches, chicken salads, and chicken tenders. They do have a variety of side items and you can get the fries seasoned four different ways. They also offer frozen custard, but the flavors seem to be limited. But they offer it by itself or as a shake or fushion (think blizzard). While we didn’t have Melody with us, I was sure to take note of their kids meals. The selection was small but you had a lot of options within each one which was nice for picker kids.

Once you order, you can go fill up your drink and get some sauces. Luckily you can get any sauce you like yourself since they have a sauce bar. They do not have even half the number of sauces you find at Chicken Guy! but it was still nice to have a variety to pick from. You can see most of the sauces below. From left to right they are Nashville Hot, Honey Mustard, Korean BBQ, Ranch, and Signature Sauce. You can see the ketchup at the top left, but there wasn’t anything fancy about it, ha! They did have a buffalo sauce, but I did not try it.

So if you like spicy sauces, Nashville Hot is for you. It was just too hot for us and did not provide enough additional flavor for me to keep eating it. I suspect if you tossed your chicken in it, then dipped in ranch, it would be really good. The honey mustard was good, but not my favorite. I am pretty particular about my honey mustard though. And this one was more mustardy than I prefer. Korean BBQ was disgusting. I can’t even describe it other than bad, ha. My absolute favorite was the ranch. I used it both on the chicken tenders and fries. The signature sauce was ok. It wasn’t quite like a Zaxby’s sauce. It seemed to be more ketchup in it, but it was decent.

So food wise, I tried the deluxe chicken sandwich. I expected it to be 2-3 chicken tenders, but it was actually a chicken breast. I guess since it seemed so much like Chicken Guy!, I expected this. It was still really good, and the chicken breast was HUGE! I LOVED the garlic aioli sauce that was on the sandwich. Next time I may ask if I can have some of it on the side too because it would be a great dipping sauce for your fries! I got a regular sized fry with just salt seasoning. The fries were also really good and fresh. They are hand cut and there is a lot of them. Brad and I could have easily split the large one.

Brad had the 4 piece chicken tenders with a large fry. Like I said above, the large fry alone would have been enough for us to split, but you just don’t know until you see them. The chicken tenders were also huge. Honestly one was well over half the size of the chicken breast on my sandwich. Again, he wasn’t sure the size so he ordered 4. He could easily get away with 3, maybe even 2.

Overall we really liked the food here. I would love to go back once things settle down, and we feel comfortable eating inside of restaurants again. I really want to try their fried pickles and maybe one of their salads too. Oh and of course the custard!
