April 2022 Carnival Cruise Food

April 2022 Carnival Cruise Food

On our cruise back in August, we had some delicious food options available to us. We cruised on the Carnival Liberty for 4 nights. This particular cruise ship was larger than ones I had previously taken, and there were definitely more options to take advantage of when we were hungry. Unlike past cruises, if I were ever hungry, it was easy to find something to eat. That was not always the case before. There was such variety, we did not even get to try all of the inclusive dining options. But I did snag some pictures of most of those to share.

Guy’s Burger Joint

The first place we ate (and probably my favorite place) was Guy’s Burger Joint. It was simple, quick, but really good. We rarely saw much of a line if any all of the times we passed by here. The menu is fairly simple, but it is exactly what you would expect. There are 5 different burger options to pick from. The only burger I had was the Straight Up burger. It was a burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, cheese, and donkey sauce. I wanted to try the Pig Patty, but with my pork allergy, I figured that a cruise ship was not the best place to have one. It also came with a side of french fries. This made my fry loving heart happy. Back in our early days of cruising (nearly 15 years ago), getting just a simple order of fries was near impossible on the ships we sailed. It was also the first meal I would have once we got back. There was also a toppings and sauce bar. So if you preferred the plain jane burger, you could build it however you wanted. This entire meal was delicious. The burger was thin and well cooked, and all the toppings were perfect. I loved having the fries, as I already mentioned. The dipping sauces were good, but a favorite dipping sauce for the fries was actually found inside at the sandwich shop. I will speak to that shortly…. The hours here were sort of wonky. I think it was only like 11 am - 6 pm. Which is unfortunate if your main dining meal was not great. But we did manage to eat here twice, I believe.

BlueIguana Cantina

Opposite of Guy’s Burger Joint was BlueIguana Cantina. As you may guess, it is a Mexican restaurant. The menu was simple and really only contained two items, burritos and tacos. And depending on which item you wanted determined which side of the bar you went to. It is basically build your own tacos/burritos. They also had a salsa bar that was serve yourself. I did grab a burrito here one day, but it was not my cup of tea. I didn’t care for the chicken, and they did not serve chips. So the salsa bar was useless for me. Had they had chips, that would have been another story. I do believe they had breakfast, but we never had it here.

Swirls

If you love ice cream, a cruise is the place for you. They had unlimited ice cream 24 hours a day. It is located near the main pool deck on each side of the entrance to the buffet area. One side had vanilla and chocolate while the other side had vanilla and strawberry. Strawberry was my favorite.

Lido Marketplace Buffet (plus sushi and deli)

Of course the big thing you hear about are the buffets. We had the buffet for lunch a few times in addition to what we already had. We also grabbed some snacks here too. I don’t personally care for the buffet, but some people love it. The salad is usually pretty good. They also had a BBQ place upstairs we had, but we did not like it. If you want sushi, you can pay for that here. We never tried it either. The deli was decent, but it always had the LONGEST waits. Twice mom waited and also got us truffle fries. However, the fries from Guy’s along with the garlic aioli sauce from the deli were a perfect match too if you did not want to wait in line at the deli for fries. We did get our tea and coffee from here. We decided to not buy the drink package which worked well for us.

Seafood Shack and Pizza Pirate

So these places can be hard to find if you are not really familiar or even looking for them. They are on the back pool deck. You have to walk through the Lido Buffet to find them. We did not eat at either, but there was never any crowds. Seafood Shack does cost additional money, but the lobster roll did sound good. The Pizza Pirate was free, but the two times we were back there, they did not have any pizza I cared already made for nor did I want to wait.

The Dining Room

So we had the anytime dining for our dinner time in the main dining room. On this ship, there were two dining rooms, so be cautious of that when cruising. We like the anytime so we have control of when we go. This is really important on port days. We went every night of our cruise, and we always went right at or near 5:30. We were seated just the two of us, and we had an amazing serving crew. I would say our dinners were near excellent with the exception of the last night. It was still decent, but I had room service later! I won’t go into details of every single meal here. You can look back on each day of my trip where I spoke about the meals I had. You can preview the meals for each night in the HUB app, so you can always decide if you want to even go to dinner due to what they are having. Or if you just want to get a head start on what to order, that is a good place to look! I highly recommend going though. The food is free, and sometimes you get to try new things you ordinarily would not order. You can order multiple apps, entrees, or desserts too. So don’t be shy. And if you don’t love something, you can hit up the buffet, pizza, or room service later!

Dining Room Breakfast

So we always typically order room service, but we did decide to partake in the dining room breakfast while on this cruise. You are not assigned a dining room or time. Instead, you check on your phone, and they let you know when your table is ready. We never had issues, and our tables were always ready almost immediately. You arrive, and they seat you. We did the breakfast one day, and the seaday brunch another day. Both meals were good and a nice change of pace from the pastries and cereal from room service.

Room Service

Room Service is offered 24 hours a day. However during late night ours there is a nominal fee to pay. And some items do cost money while others are free. We did order a turkey bacon sandwich two of our nights which were delicious!

Princess Cay Buffet

During our time at Princess Cay, the buffet made its way to the island. It was primarily hotdogs and hamburgers along with other fixings. I don’t care for the buffet on the island. And thankfully we had lots of snacks since we rented a cabana. But we did walk over and grab some food to bring back to our air conditioned cabana to eat. It was decent, but still not my favorite meal by any means.

Coffee Bar

So we passed the coffee bar a few times, but only stopped on our last day. And I am thankful for that, because I would have ended up spending a lot of money on coffee otherwise! They have a decent menu and decent prices. You do have to pay for everything here, and they also have some yummy looking pastries.

Overall we had a really good experience with food on this cruise. I am not sure if it is because of my lack of cruising and it being unlimited and fixed for me, but I really enjoyed it.
