First Birthday Party Food
For Melody's First Birthday Party, I really struggled with what food to have at her party. We knew we would have cake and an ice cream sundae buffet, but I wasn't really sure what to do about other food or if I should even have other food. We planned to have about 30 people or so, and we opted for a party at 2 pm. So we knew we would not need heavy food, but I wanted some sort of appetizers for everyone to snack on. I contemplated continuing with the ice cream theme, but I wasn't exactly sure how to do that. So we opted for some various finger foods. I also was sure to include a few things I knew Melody and some of the other kids could have.
Since it was Melody's first birthday, we opted for a traditional smash cake and a cake for everyone else to eat. I wanted something simple for her cake, and I found some inspiration on Pinterest. Since it was ice cream themed, I thought the sprinkles would be a cute touch to keep with the theme. I also found a super cute ice cream cake on Pinterest, and my mom's friend was able to re-create it.
For drinks, we did pink lemonade inside, and then we did bottled Mexican coke and water outside.
Now for the finger foods. We had ruffles with french onion dip, Chick-fil-A chicken nuggets, mixed vegetables with ranch dip, and chicken salad with crackers. For the kids/babies, I had pink goldfish, puffs in mini cups, an applesauce packets. I wanted to do two "main" items, two "side" items, and then a couple of baby items.
We ended up with WAY too much food leftover, but it is really hard to know how much to get. In a few years, I know Melody will be happy with just pizza, cake, and ice cream! But I really wanted food both her and our guests would eat, and she is still too young to love pizza! Maybe next year!
