Epcot Play Area
So while mom and I visited Disney in September during the Food and Wine Festival, we never made it over to the Epcot Play Area that was available. Every time we would be near there, it would already be closed (it closes at dusk), and so it never worked out. But we made a point on our trip in February to let Melody spend some time here. It was our last day of our trip because again, we spend evenings at Epcot and it would already be closed.
During the Festival of the Arts (at least) it had a Wreck It Ralph theme. As soon as we walked in, they gave us a sheet of Wreck It Ralph temporary tattoos.
As soon as you walk in, there is an area for children under 5. Melody literally passed right by this area on our way in. She did stop briefly on our way out, but she did not find everything as fun.
There there was the larger area for kids 5 and up. Melody spent most of her time here. It isn’t a typical playground area. There weren’t swings or slides, but more of obstacle courses and such. She was still too small to do everything so Brad followed her along.
There was a LITTLE bit of shade (as you can see in the first picture below), but not much. Although there was lots of other seating throughout the area.
I really think this area is a fun and needed addition to Epcot. I am not 100% sure if this area will remain while festivals are not in progress though. When mom and I visited early March between Festival of the Arts and the Flower and Garden Festival, we did not specifically visit the play area, but I am most positive people were playing on it. I do know the structures were still there. But this summer when there is no festival at all for a long period of time, I am not sure if it will be open. It seems silly not to keep it, but who knows! I do know it would be nice if there was a bit more shade though. We would have spent more time had it not been so brutal in the direct sun.
