A Day at the Lake
About a month ago, my parents bought a pontoon boat. It is a work in progress, but they wanted to buy one so that Melody could experience river/lake/boat life. We had a boat growing up, and I have so many fun memories on the river with my family. So I am really excited for Melody to experience something similar. A few Saturdays ago, we decided to head down to Smith Lake to take a ride on the boat for the first time.
It is about an hour drive from my parent’s house, and while there are plenty of spots on the river closer, we wanted to experience Smith Lake. My parents and Brad have been there, but we knew with it being Melody’s first trip, it would be more ideal at the lake where the water was much, much clearer. Melody loved the boat right from the start. And she could not wait to jump in the water as soon as we found a place to stop. My parents brought their river mat, and she had a lot of fun and freedom.
When we left, she even got to experience driving the boat.
Of course it didn’t last too long and she got sleepy, so I held her for the rest of the drive back to the dock.
I look forward to next summer and hopefully many days spent on the lake and river!
