Opryland January 2022
For many years, my mom and I took trips to either Disney, a cruise, or both for MLK weekend for my birthday. We have not done this as frequently since having Melody. But Brad was out of town, and we decided to head to Opryland for MLK weekend. While we go often, mom has never went with us, so it was a fun treat.
We picked up Melody from school on Friday and headed to Nashville. We stopped at the American Girl store as well as had dinner at Party Fowl. Party Fowl is across from the American Girl store, and it was practically empty when we arrived. He did fill up some as our dinner continued. But we knew if we went into the mall, it would be much more crowded. The food here was actually really good. My mom and I split our meals. I got the chicken and beignets, and my mom got the chicken po boy. It was all so delicious.
As soon as we got to the hotel, I took all of Melodyβs toys out and took pictures. This kept us from leaving anything when we left!
We had to get in a view of our balcony before heading downstairs to see the fountain show. The fountain show is one of Melodyβs favorite parts of staying here. And at bedtime she matched her dolls pajamas!
We had breakfast on the balcony before heading to the indoor pool for the morning. We forgot Melodyβs puddle jumper, but she adjusted well to their lifejackets.
After the pool, we changed back into our clothes then headed down to explore some and have lunch.
We rested in the room for a bit, then made it down to dinner at Solario Cantina. We arrived right at 5. It turned out to be really good, and I was so glad to finally try it. It seems to always be closed when we stay here. Then we rode the boat before calling it a night.
As soon as we finished breakfast, we headed right to the arcade. This was a promise I made to Melody since it was so busy the day before. She really enjoyed it, but fought leaving. We ate an early lunch then headed to see the live animal show. The do this every weekend right now at noon. On this day they had turtles. Melody was really fascinated by them. Then we grabbed a coffee and headed to the room for a bit.
We had coffee and rested just a bit before we headed down to the pool. It was snowing outside, so I got a glimpse of the snow while walking to the pool. People were crazy and using the hot tub outside of the indoor pool. It was so cold and so crowded!
We wanted to get dinner at 5, so we headed up after about an hour or two and got changed. Melody brought her attitude too. We arrived at Jack Danielβs at 5, and there was a 30 minute wait. Not due to crowds, but staffing. So we let Melody play on the stair case while waiting. Our wait was literally right at 30 minutes, and we were seated. Dinner was good although our waitress was not very attentive. Then we watched the fountain show one last time. The Delta Island was closed to the public for a corporate event, so we originally set up to watch it from above. But the security guard turned the sign around, so we snuck down to watch it up close. Because of the Delta Island being closed, the ice cream line was crazy on our way back. The last thing we did to end the night was a trip to the arcade to spend the rest of Melodyβs money and cash in her tickets for prizes. She was so excited.
Our last morning we had a long debate about the weather and roads. With the winter weather the day before, we were afraid the roads might be bad. But we watched the news, and most things seemed fine. But we did take our time leaving. We had one last breakfast on the balcony, took some pictures, packed up, and loaded the car. After getting the car loaded, we let Melody explore the hotel one last time, then grabbed lunch. Then we drove home! Luckily the roads were not bad at all. It was really pretty actually.
And here are some snapshots of Melody over the years.
