Leading up to our Disney World trip in March 2023, we had tons of countdowns going. I love getting everyone excited, and sometimes I even overdo it. One countdown I made was a coloring sheet. I also did this for Brad’s parents as a easy way for them to participated 3 hours away!
So I must be honest, I made this a LONG LONG time ago. So long ago, we were at our other house, and I am most positive Melody wasn’t even a thought yet, ha! But I found all the pictures, and I wanted to share with you this countdown idea. This does involve quite a bit of work, but you can use it beyond a countdown!
So with all of our vacations being cancelled for the near future to Disney World, we now have much longer countdowns to make. This is a really easy countdown and can be adjusted for any length of time really. However, the shorter the better when it comes to coming up with ideas to put on each stick.
Every Disney trip we try and do some sort of countdown. I do try and come up with some original ones, but one we go back to often is the paper chains. It is easy and cute. And you and you can really make it more involved if you want too!
So a year later, I decided to finally post about this painting I did with Melody. I guess I forgot we even did this and stumbled across it and remembered how cute it was! During a countdown for one of our Disney trips, we did different Disney related activities. One of those things was making an “UP” Painting. It was a very thrown together idea that was a risk, but it turned out great!
This is by far the easiest countdown that I have ever made for a trip. Of course this countdown was made for our December Disney trip. Simply design something in Word or any other document editor that you prefer. I simply drew a Mickey head, added a bow, and this was where the days would be listed. Then I added wording to better explain what the countdown was for. I printed the countdown on regular printer paper. Then I cut it to the frame size that I was using. I literally just found a frame around our house that wasn't being used. I framed the print out and each day, I changed the number using a dry erase marker. Easy-peasy!
Every Disney trip I try and come up with a fun countdown. I had an idea to do a sort of advent calendar but as a Disney countdown. I saw where people made an advent calendar using a muffin tin, so I decided to make something similar for Disney.
On our February 2017 trip to Disney World, I wanted a cute countdown that wasn't too involved. I had just returned from a trip to Disney World with my mom. Therefore, the countdown would need to be fairly short. Since Melody was so young, she really wouldn't be involved in this countdown. So I came up with just an easy countdown that begin 12 days out from our trip. I used the monorail as inspiration and Pinterest too! See below.
