Star Wars Lego Themed Birthday Party

Star Wars Lego Themed Birthday Party

For my husband's 30th birthday, I wanted to do something special.  I decided to throw him a Star Wars Lego themed birthday party.  He loves Star Wars and Legos, and it was an easy theme to find party supplies for.  I primarily used yellow plastic table clothes ($1.00 a piece at Walmart) on all the counters and the cake table.  I purchased one white plastic table cloth for a Hoth scene we had setup from the Star Wars Legos.  Speaking of legos, since we have so many Star Wars Legos, we put them all together and used them as decoration surrounding the food and cake table as well.  An added bonus, Brad's mom brought me some pictures of Brad when he was a kid.  I displayed them throughout the house and used them as extra decorations.

At Party City, I found some Star Wars Lego napkins, confetti, and cupcake picks to use.  I also purchased a "Happy Birthday" banner and some "30th birthday" centerpieces.  I wanted to be sure and incorporate the fact he was turning 30.  I purchased black plates and red utensils from Walmart.  I decided to do some solid colors for two reasons.  One, I didn't want it to be full overload of Star Wars Legos.  Second, it saved a lot of money.

The most fun part was the food.  For starters, I wanted to do only finger foods.  I could have just ordered pizza, but my goal was that for every food item, there would be a place card in front of it.  The place card would be some sort of Star Wars reference but would also be related to that particular food item.  A list of the food items are below:

  • Zaxby's Chicken Fingers - Cad Bane Chicken
  • Vegetable Tray - Vader Veggies
  • Pigs in a Blanket - Jar Jar Links in a Blanket
  • Sausage Balls - Tatooine Balls
  • Chips - Storm Trooper Scoopers
  • Salsa - Sith Salsa
  • French Onion Dip - Droid Dip
  • Margaritas (I used Lime-a-ritas for ease) - Yoda-Rita
  • Bottled Water - Hoth H2O
  • Coke - Obi Wan Kola
  • Lime Punch - Yoda Soda
  • Wine - Wicket Wine

I ordered Brad a Star Wars themed cake from Publix.  They did not have anything Star Wars Lego, but the cake I purchased was still cute. I got the traditional "3" and "0" candles to be used.  I had purchased some "Happy 30th Birthday" candles, but it was going to just be too much for the cake.  I also just got a tub of vanilla ice cream.

I did a small candy buffet since Brad loves candy.  We did a candy buffet at our wedding, so I figured I could put those containers to good use!  I just did Pixie Stix and Candy Blox.  The Pixie Stixs I just bought from Walmart.  The Candy Blox are a little harder to find, but those are his favorites and fit perfectly with the party.  They are basically lego shaped sweet-tart type candy.  I found his on Amazon.

The gallery below will give you a better idea of how I incorporated everything.  The party turned out to be a lot of fun and was a nice 30th birthday for Brad.  He seemed to really enjoy the theming.  By adding the 30th birthday decorations and alcohol, it turned would could easily be a kids birthday theme into something for primarily adults.
