Valentine's Day Recipes Part One
Both this week and next week, I am going to be sharing a few recipes that you can use either on Valentine's Day or in the days leading up to Valentine's Day. The recipes will vary from breakfast, lunch, snacks, and desserts. Today I will be sharing three recipes. One breakfast, and two that could be considered both snacks and desserts.
Pancakes
We use a very simple and common recipe: The Bisquick Recipe!
Ingredients
- 2 cups of Bisquick
- 1 cup of milk
- 2 eggs
Instructions
One - Preheat griddle or pan
Two - Mix ingredients in medium bowl until combined without lumps
Three - Pour mixture into a pancake pen (we found ours at Williams-Sonoma)
Four - Spray griddle or pan with Pam
Five - Draw the shapes or letters of your preference on the griddle or pan
Six - Flip after about a minute or so
Seven - Serve with syrup and your preferred toppings; if you opted to spell something, be sure to present it in the correct order
Candy Popcorn
Ingredients
- Popcorn
- Vanilla Almond Bark
- Conversation Hearts
- Red Sprinkles
- Cinnamon Gems
Instructions
One - Pop popcorn
Two - On wax paper, pour the desired amounts of conversation hearts, cinnamon gems, and sprinkles; spread out
Three - Pour popcorn onto wax paper being careful to remove all unpopped kernels
Four - Melt chocolate; I used approximately 3-4 squares for 3 cups of popcorn
Five - Pour chocolate over popcorn and mix well; I actually pour ingredients in a Tupperware container and shake to mix
Six - Pour back onto wax paper and spread it out
Seven - Add any additional sprinkles or other accents; let cool and dry completely
Chocolate Covered Strawberry Hearts
Ingredients
- Triangular Shapped Strawberries
- Vanilla Almond Bark
- Sprinkles
Instructions
One - Wash strawberries and remove stems
Two - Cut in half lengthwise
Three - Placing both inside facing down, place the sides together; you can use a toothpick to help them better stay together (Not pictured)
Four - Melt chocolate; I used about 2-3 squares for 5 strawberries
Five - Lay strawberries on wax paper and pour chocolate over them (Suggestion: if you have a wired cooling rack, place that over wax paper and put the strawberries on top of the cooling rack, then pour chocolate over them; this will give it a more defined look)
Six - Sprinkle any sprinkles or other decor that you pick
Seven - Let it cool/harden before serving or storing
