Walmart Grocery Pickup Service Review
Currently, our local Neighborhood Walmart is testing a new service. This service allows you to order your groceries online, select a pickup date, arrive, and a Walmart employee will deliver and load them in your car for you. We tested this service late February for our March monthly grocery visit.
First, create an account with Walmart. If you don't have one or if this is your first time, use my link http://refer.walmart.com/v2/share/6137662004729118245. This should give you a $10 evoucher good for a purchase over $50.
Second, select your pickup location.
Third, select your pick up time.
Fourth, start adding items to your cart.
1. Using the drop down menu, locate the category of the item you are looking for.
2. Once you have selected the category, you can apply filters to narrow down your results.
3. When you find the item you are looking for, add it to your cart.
Fifth, once you have added all the items to your cart, you review and pay.
Now you just wait until the date and time to pick up your order. You will receive an email with the instructions on what to do. Just to let you know, it took me about an hour to complete my order. I was watching television while ordering so that may have contributed to it.
Our pick up time was 12-4. We arrived around 1:50. We pulled into 1 of the 4 parking places.
There is a sign in the middle of the parking places with a number to call to let them know you are there.
Within about 5 minutes, a Walmart employee comes to your car and loads all your groceries. They use the blue bins seen below.
When we arrived home, I took inventory as I put away the groceries. We did get everything that we were charged for as well as two extra items.
Below are some of the "problems" I had:
- Be careful about "substitutions". I misunderstood when completing the checkout online. It automatically checks all the items as "substitutions are allowed". I assumed I was to check the items myself if I wanted substitutions. It does note on the top portion of your receipt any items that were substituted. Luckily, you are charged the price of the item you originally ordered, not the new item if it is higher.
- Apparently the items that they cannot find a substitution for they mark as unavailable. This can be a huge let down if you needed it for dinner that night. Luckily the items that were unavailable we did not need for a few weeks. They note those items on your receipt and do not charge you for them.
Overall, I would definitely use this service again. We will probably use this for our monthly grocery visits.
