Trip Countdown Activity Idea

Trip Countdown Activity Idea

Going on a trip soon?  Below is something we did to count down to our most recent Disney trip. You can really do this for any upcoming trip to try and get everyone in the family excited!

The first thing you will need to do is decide when you want to start your countdown.  We started our countdown about 32 days before our trip.  We looked at a calendar for those 32 days, and we labeled each day as 15, 45, or 120.  The days labeled 15 meant we only had time for a 15 minute activity; the days labeled 45 meant we only had time for a 45 minute activity; and the days labeled 120 meant we only had time for a 120 minute activity.  You can change the length of time, if you wish.  Those worked best for us.  Lastly, count up the number of each.  We had 18 15-minute activities, 8 45-minute activities, and 6 120-minute activities.

Next I took paper and cut out 32 squares.

I separated the squares into the three groups and labeled the top of each one 15, 45, or 120.

I split each group between Brad and me.  You can split them between your entire family to get everyone involved.  You have to write down an activity that applies to your trip and will take up the entire time allotted.

Here are mine to give you an idea:

Once you have them all ready, fold them up and put them in separate jars.  Each day, draw from the jar that corresponds to the number you wrote down on the calendar for that day.  Then do the activity!
