Diaper Wreath
For my sister in law's baby sprinkle, I bought a large box of diapers to make a diaper cake. I had so many left over, I decided to use them to make something else. I opted for a diaper wreath. I had never made one, so I thought I would give it a try.
I started with a wire wreath frame from Hobby Lobby. I think I got the medium size, but you can literally use whatever size you want for the space you will be hanging it. I primarily wanted the white portion of the diaper to be the exposed side, so I took the diaper and wrapped it around the wreath. I then took white curling ribbon and tied the diaper together around the wreath making sure the knot I tied was on the backside of the diaper. I continued this MANY more times. If my count is correct, I used 34 diapers. I am most certain I stopped around 24, but as I kept "fluffing" and trying to make the wreath look "better", I kept having more space for diapers!
Next I added ribbon. I found it easiest to use two different ribbons (same width though). You could use the same ribbon if you wanted though. It is really up to you. I started with the first ribbon and just intertwined it around the wreath. You want to make sure that you are covering the curling ribbon. It never comes off. You also want to make sure you are making the ribbon tight and not super loose. Once you finish one ribbon, do the next one. I waited until I was completely finished to cut the ribbon from the spool. I used safety pins to keep the ribbon in place after I cut it. I only cut one of the ribbons now. The other was used for a "hanger".
Next I added a piece of decor as well as a "hanger". The hanger was made with one of the ribbons. I looped it through the wire wreath frame to secure it. Then I made it the length I wanted and tied it in a bow to complete the look. The only decor I added was a pair of newborn shoes. You can add other decor, but I wanted to keep it simple. I used twine and looped it through the back of the shoes and tied it to the frame to secure it.
All done! I hung it at home to confirm how it would look. We hung it over the fireplace and onesies at the shower, and it was a big hit with everyone!
