Unicorn Birthday Wooden Number

The theme for Melody’s 7th birthday party was unicorns. For some of her birthdays in the past, I would make wooden numbers fit for the theme. Well she got disappointed the first year I missed doing that. So now I can’t forget. I let her completely design it this year. It really made it hard for me to step back and do that, but she really wanted to. She painted it herself, and I simply glued on the unicorn horn. The idea is the back of the seven is the tail. I am not entirely sure you can see it, but that is what she was going for!

Cheerville Party Place

Yes, it is January, and I am still posting about Melody’s 6th birthday party from back in May. I am super behind on posting all kinds of content. Such is the season of life I am in! So for Melody’s birthday, we decided to have it somewhere new. We always have it at home, but Melody did not want that. It was probably a good thing since she wanted to invite her entire class. Through another blog, I found a place called Cheerville Party Place. The price is a steal, the location is good, and you can have an unlimited number of guests which is ideal.

miss to mrs bridal shower decor

Let’s talk all about the decor we used at my cousin’s bridal shower back in September. The theme was miss to mrs, and the colors were sage green, dusty rose, gold, and cream. Ashley’s (my cousin) maid of honor is a florist. Well she wasn’t technically one at that time, but she did just open up her own shop local to us. So she did all of the floral arrangements. We kept the decor simple yet chic.

Bridal Shower Coffee Bar

One of the things on my cousin’s dream bridal shower board was a coffee bar. So when I helped host her shower back in September, I knew this was something I could easily do. We already have our own coffee bar, so I just made it more functional for a shower, and I included iced coffee since that is the bride’s favorite!

GI Joe Cake Topper

For Brad’s birthday, Melody wanted to do a GI Joe themed birthday. I was torn on how to handle his cake since you cannot really find old school GI Joe cakes at Publix. I honestly am not even sure if the newer GI Joe movies are even represented at Publix. But we wanted old school 100%. So after some research, I noticed they had a camo cake. It was not exactly how I wanted, but after some talking with the bakery, they were able to do exactly what I wanted. A round camouflaged cake with nothing extra about it. Then I made a topper using cardstock. The topper was three levels. Each level looked like the GI Joe logo and read Happy, Birthday, Daddy. I used toothpicks and wooden skewers taped to the back to keep it in place. It was perfect!

Bridal Shower Food Labels

For my cousin’s bridal shower, the theme itself was miss to mrs. In addition we were doing a chip and did charcuterie style food setup. With that, they wanted the food to all be labeled. And I was in charge of making said labels. I wanted to do something using chalkboards because I thought that would be nice. I did some searching at Hobby Lobby and Michael’s as well as online with Amazon.

DIY Backdrop

We had Melody’s 6th birthday party at a local gymnastics/cheer gym. I wasn’t entirely sure how I could really decorate the walls or how much time I would have to decorate them and also look pretty. I had seen a fellow local mom who made a backdrop to help with her decor at the same location. So I decided to make my own myself. I don’t love it, but it works for now. I plan to make it out of thicker PVC pipe in the future. It is just a little bit too floppy for me.

miss to mrs bridal shower

Last weekend, I helped host a bridal shower for my cousin, Ashley. She is getting married in November, and I love hosting a good event! Her maid of honor and mom help with all the ideas, but I wanted to share how adorable everything turned out. I plan to post more details later about different parts of the shower! But the general theme was “miss to mrs”.

Doc McStuffins Cupcake Toppers

Instead of doing a cake for Melody’s birthday party, I did cupcakes. I did this for a few reasons. One, I do not have to cut a cake this way. It is one less thing I have to plan for. Two, even before COVID, it made me feel better to have her blow out a candle on a single cupcake vs an entire cake that people will be eating. Three, it is generally cheaper. And four, it makes it easier to give out cupcakes (or this time around we already had plates made), rather than cut pieces of cake to hand out. I always pick colors that match the theme of the party, but I also add some form of cupcake toppers. I decided to make easy ones this time around.

Rainbow Ranger's Birthday Party

For Melody’s 5th birthday, she wanted a Rainbow Ranger themed party. Well actually, about a month before she changed her mind to Doc McStuffins, but mommy had already bought Rainbow Rangers, so maybe Doc next year, ha. Anyhow, Rainbow Ranger itself was hard to find, but we did find lots of rainbow things we used along with toys we already had. Melody was specific and had to approve most things because she wanted everything to be in true rainbow order (aka ROYGBIV). The party itself turned out cute, and she loved it.

O-FISH-ALLY ONE BANNER

So this was a really cute banner I made for Emily’s youngest’s first birthday. It was a fishing themed party, and he is O-FISH-ally ONE! The saying was also mentioned on his birthday party invite. With the way we did the font, there was not a good way to add the dashes, but I still think with the spacing it was adorable. I used a bobber for the “o” in one, and she decorated the wall with blue balloons to go along with the theme. This is also where he ate his smash cake!

Fishing Silhouette Banner

For Dalton’s first birthday, Emily did a fishing themed party. She had so much cardstock leftover from all of her past parties with Lydia, that we decided to use random colors and make silhouettes of the fish. Then she could use the silhouettes to make various banners throughout the house.
