Be Our Guest Dinner - Revisited
While I have had dinner at Be Our Guest before, mom had only had breakfast there. For our January trip to Disney, we had dinner reservations for both Crystal Palace and Be Our Guest this night. But we decided to cancel Crystal Palace a few days before since it was an earlier reservation and we both have had it. We did not regret this choice.
We checked in to our reservation about 20 minutes early. They were able to seat us within 10 minutes. We dined in the ballroom. The ballroom is stunning. It is really, really beautiful and well themed. However, there are SO many tables crammed into this space. We could literally hear the conversations going on at both tables beside us. I know this is a hard reservation to get. And so they probably want to offer as many seats as possible, but having tables so close together isn't ideal. Either way, we were seated and greeted with an adorable place setting and menu.
After placing our orders, we were brought drinks and dinner rolls. I only finished half of one. They were delicious, but mom and I both ordered appetizers.
Mom and I usually do not splurge on appetizers because we will barely eat our meals if we do. But we could not pass it up. I really wanted to try the french onion soup, and mom ordered the garden salad. Both are not super extravagant appetizers, but they both sounded really good. And they were. The french onion soup was extremely cheesy, but I loved that. The flavor was also really good. I didn't feel like I had to rush and brush my teeth from the onions afterwards either. Overall, it was really good. The salad was also delicious. It is a salad you could definitely get somewhere at home, but it was still very good. Mom and I switched up a few times to make sure we really tried them both.
The entree menu had changed some since I last visited. My mom went with the sautéed shrimp and scallops while I had the braised beef. Mine was really good, but super filling. I started out eating the beef. It literally fell apart with the touch of my fork. And the sauce it was covered in was a perfect addition. The potatoes were cooked perfectly, and I liked smothering them in the sauce as well. I usually like the onions, but I guess after having the french onion soup, I wasn't feeling them. Lastly was the asparagus. It was a little too undercooked for me. I prefer it really tender. It also did not have a whole lot of flavor. I decided not to fill up on it since it wasn't as good.
I did try a few bites of the sautéed shrimp and scallops. The pasta was perfectly cooked, and the lobster sauce was divine and rich. I am not quite sure I could have made a meal from it. The scallops were cooked nicely and had a good flavor. I did not try the shrimp, but my mom seemed to like it.
Since we ordered appetizers, we opted to skip dessert. The cupcakes are good here, but I am not a big cupcake person. I would rather put the money towards a snack later. When we told the waiter we would pass, he offered us a complimentary helping of the "grey stuff". I had yet to try it until this visit, and it was just as good as every raves about. I can't really describe it. It was a very sweet ending to our day.
