Shadow Box Guestbook
One of the items I was in charge of for my cousin's couples shower in Memphis was the guestbook. I contemplated many different options. My original thought was to try and do some sort of guestbook that tied directly to the theme of the shower...Memphis, BBQ, Elvis, etc. My best friend had a cute idea of getting everyone to sign an Elvis record. My biggest concerns were a) how would they display it; b) how expensive it would potentially be; c) how easy would this be to do. I decided in the end to go a safer route. I saw various shadow box ideas, but decided to just come up with a version of my own.
I found a shadow box from Hobby Lobby. I opted for black because I intended to use black adhesive vinyl in some sort of way. This wasn't just an shadow box. It had a slot at the top that allowed you to slip something inside of said box.
I found some wooden hearts on Amazon. I wanted them to be large enough for people to be able to sign their names, so I went with the 40 mm size in a pack of 50. We invited approximately 90 people, so I ordered two packs. They ended up being the perfect size!
On the shadow box, I decided to use my Silhouette Cameo and cut out the Memphis skyline on black adhesive vinyl. The Memphis skyline was sort of the "theme" of the shower. I had already drawn it for the invitations in Pixelmator, so I was able to use that and trace it in the Silhouette software. I opted to place it on the top of the frame directly on the glass so that you could see the hearts on the bottom as people dropped them. It also added some really nice dimension with it being on the glass itself vs the back of the shadow box.
I contemplated between a red or white background, but I ultimately decided on the white background. It seemed as if the skyline "popped" more this way.
I printed a cute sign to place beside the shadow box at the party. We placed all of the hearts out along with sharpies for everyone to use to sign each heart. Overall, I think the guestbook was a hit, and it is super easy to do!
