Sunshine Party Invites
For Melody's second birthday party, I did "You are my Sunshine" theme. I sing her the song before bed each night, so it seemed fitting. I did some searching online for invitations ideas. Last year after her birthday party, I swore I would buy invitations. Well I never found anything I loved, so of course, I made them.
I knew I wanted the song as the background of the invitation. I played with different color variations to ultimately get to what I wanted. I also tried different fonts. I couldn't decide if I wanted all one color or to highlight certain colors.
The wording portion of the invitation contained three parts. The first part was the wording itself. I wanted to play on the words of the song. The second part was the sun that I planned to make using my Silhouette Cameo. And the third and final part was the ribbon that would ultimately tie together the background and the wording portion.
It took me a few tries to finally get the sun how I wanted it. Not only did I change the design in the end, but I also changed the ultimate cardstock I used to find colors that I truly loved.
After I finally conquered the background, wording, and sun, I had to decide on a ribbon to use. I bought a few different ones, but I actually picked a solid one that I bought at the very end!
Now to assemble! Assembling is what causes me to want to buy invitations! I love the design part, but I hate the assembly. But it is usually worth it in the end.
First was the assembly of the sun. I attached the "2" to the solid circle pink using double sided tape. Then I attached that piece to the actual sun.
Next was attaching the background to the wording. I placed the two sheets together how I wanted them to ultimately sit, and I put two hole punches at the very top.
I cut all of the ribbon, and I ran it through as the pictures below show. It is much easier to "show" than to explain. Then I trimmed up the edges.
The last thing I did was attach the suns using double sided tape.
And there it is!
