Urban Cookhouse
On a trip to Montgomery this summer with my mom, we tried Urban Cookhouse. It was literally next door and we were able to walk there after my mom got off of work. We actually have an Urban Cookhouse here in Huntsville too. We arrived around 6:30 pm or so. While not posted on the door, this location apparently recently starting closing at 7 pm. They were even turning people away not long after we ordered which was a total surprise. As a business, you don’t turn people away. Especially before you have officially closed.
Anyhow, on to the food. My mom ordered the chicken salad sandwich with broccoli salad. The sandwich was quite large, and the chicken salad was really good. It wasn’t chunky which I liked. I didn't try the broccoli salad, but it looked really good. But it was full of bacon :(
I ordered the pepper patch wrap with hot cheddar pasta. The wrap was really good. They basically take the pepper patch salad and add chicken then put it in a wrap. It almost tasted like a burrito but cold. Which probably sounds awful, but it was really good. The hot cheddar pasta was basically Mac and cheese. It was ok. The cheese was not smooth but more chunky which wasn’t as appealing, but it was still edible.
Melody ordered the grilled peanut butter fluff. I really hoped the peanut butter sandwich would seep through and she would eat it. But nope. We tried it, and it was delicious. It was the perfect ending to the meal actually. It was peanut butter and marshmallow grilled between two slices of bread. They served it with an orange slice and potato sticks. Again, Melody refused to eat any of it.
Overall the food was pretty good. I don’t know that I would go back to this particular location after they turned people away, but I am excited to try the one local to us!
