February 2019 Disney Trip Report Day Two
We just returned from another trip to Disney World. Over the next seven days, I will be sharing our trip report day by day. You can find my planning post here and day one here. So let’s get started!
We started off our first full day at Hollywood Studios participating in Early Morning Magic. This event is a paid event that gets you exclusive access to Toy Story Land along with breakfast. I will do a full review of the event later, but you can read about a similar event that was offered free to pass holders last fall here.
So we left our hotel around 6:45 am. Since we were staying at The Boardwalk, we were able to just walk to Hollywood Studios. The event officially started at 7:30 am per our email. I let Melody eat breakfast in her stroller on her way. Remember this is 5:45 for us! But we all managed to get out the door and not be too cranky!
It was about a 15 minute walk from our hotel. Much shorter than I was expecting, especially with all of the construction. But it was a super easy walk. We checked in around 7:05 and they immediately starting letting us in the park. The pictures below were taken around 7:15 am. Very low crowds and super empty.
We first headed to Alien Swirling Saucers. It was Melody’s favorite back in September. As you can tell in the last picture below, she hated it this time, ha! I am not sure if it was just too early for her or what, but she was not having it. We were literally the only people on the ride though. We even offered to go again and she said no!
Next up we did Toy Story Mania. We didn’t get to do this in September since Melody loved the Alien ride so much, so we wanted to be sure and do it this time. We opted to let Melody ride with Brad and for me to sit in a separate car. We thought she would like playing the game herself. Well she curled up to Brad the entire time and refused to play!
While the crowds were lower (everyone went to Slinky Dog first causing a long line), Brad went ahead and rode SD. It did take him about 10 minutes to get to the ride, so not quite as quick as in September, but still quicker than a normal day. Then I rode, then Brad rode again.
While Brad was riding, I offered to take Melody on Alien Saucers, but she refused. So we stood by the ride and watched as Brad came by on Slinky Dog.
Then we did Alien Saucer once more (she still screamed and hated it), then we did Toy Story Mania again. This time we all rode together, and she still curled up to Brad. Oh Popsicle Wall!
As we finished the ride, we went over and took a picture outside of Alien Saucers.
And you could see the lines of people coming in at 8:55. This was frustrating since technically our event gave us exclusive access until park opening (aka 9 am), but we still accomplished a lot!
We headed over and decided to have breakfast. I had not eaten anything yet. Both Brad and Melody had a small breakfast before park opening. Breakfast was just ok - I’ll go more into that later. But Melody did enjoy the cereal options!
After breakfast we wanted to head over the Muppets area. The show didn’t open until 10, so Brad went and rode Star Tours since it was next door while Melody and I hung out. It was super empty and gave Melody plenty of room to roam.
Then at 10 am, we saw the first showing of MuppetVision. Melody wouldn’t keep the glasses on, but she still enjoyed it and laughed a lot.
We visited the Muppet Store (very lackluster) and bought Melody a Miss Piggy. Then we headed to the Baby Care Center to change Melody’s diaper. This gave us a chance to see the March of the First Order.
Brad wanted to go visit the Launch Bay Area, so we did that and shopped some. More Stormtroopers and Vader!
Then we headed over for Frozen Sing-a-long. I wasn’t sure how Melody would do. She has recently become obsessed with Frozen, but with the historians, I was afraid she would not like it. She actually loved it, but she hated the snoap!
Then it was time for lunch! I ordered our lunch at Rosie’s All American Cafe via mobile ordering and placed it while leaving Frozen. I do love mobile order, but it is far from perfect. But this did save us so much time and kept us from waiting in line.
We walked back to the room for a small break. Melody took a nap, and we might have dozed off a bit too, ha! Then we freshened up and headed to Epcot for the evening. I let Melody take her bubbles that I bought her on our trip in September. She loved them!
We stopped for pictures outside of France. My child refuses to smile for photos without Brad or me behind the camera, ugh!
We made our way to Japan to walk through the shops, and we let Melody have a small snack while looking around.
Then it was dinner time at Rose and Crown. This is another review I will do later, but let me tell you, it was probably my favorite meal this entire trip! The tea, the fish, the desserts! Ah I miss it! See…Melody does love selfies…
We didn’t stay late in the parks since we had such an early morning. Instead, we headed to the Beach Club Marketplace and bought Melody some bread for the rest of our trip. Then we were finally able to keep our promise and take Melody to the playground. While she was playing, I ran over to the Screen Door and bought some milk, and bottled water, then I stepped outside to the popcorn stand and bought a refillable popcorn bucket.
Then we headed back to the room at 8 when the playground closed and started our nighttime routine. I was also able to step outside and view a bit of Fantasmic from our balcony. Of course you miss the best parts, but this still gives you an idea of our view and how close to Hollywood Studios we are.
