Restaurantosaurus
On our Disney trip back in February, we visited Restaurantosaurus again while at Animal Kingdom one evening. We ate here a year ago, but I forgot to take any pictures to do a real review. So this trip I tried something different, and I was sure to take pictures!
So to start with, we used mobile ordering. I ordered our food as we exited the Navi’ River Journey. Then as we were parking the stroller, I told the app to fix our food. The line was literally out the door to get in. The staff was having to monitor letting people move inside to order their food. But not us. We walked right by everyone.
Brad and Melody went and found a seat (plenty of seats to be found to my surprise), and I went to the mobile order window. There were about 5 people already there, so I assumed it would be a bit of a wait for our food. But again, to my surprise, it was ready within about a minute of me standing there, before everyone else. Apparently one person told the app he was there when he wasn’t. And they throw your food out after 5 minutes. So they had to remake his food. He wasn’t too happy. The other people didn’t really say much. I suspect they waited until they were inside to let the app know they were there. I have learned from previous mobile ordering to tell the app before you even go inside. I wouldn’t do it 10 minutes out, but maybe 1-2 minutes out.
A couple of things I love here (and I didn’t get pictures of but you can google to see), they have the drink station set up where you can get unlimited refills. This was really nice back when I was a coke drinker. I am most positive I drank coke on this day simply because they either did not have any unsweet tea, or they did not have the sweetener I prefer. Or maybe I was lazy, ha! My second favorite thing is the toppings bar. While I did not get a burger this trip, last year I did, and it was great getting to add all the toppings I wanted. I did go to the toppings bar this trip to get different sauces for my fries and shrimp, and I also got a few vegetables (like pickles) to snack on.
So as I sort of said above, I got the shrimp this trip. I had contemplated the shrimp and chicken, but Melody said she would rather have a peanut butter sandwich, so I got all shrimp. I think it came with like 10-12 good size shrimp. I am sure they are frozen, but they still tasted really good for quick service food. Honestly, they were good for a table service place in my opinion. They did have cocktail sauce at the toppings bar that was pretty good too. Their fries are decent here. Nothing special, but they are still good. I dipped them in ranch. I love fries in ranch. I rarely dip them in ketchup except at select places. Overall, I would definitely order this again. I liked it MUCH better than their burger last time. But I am not a huge burger person in general. (FYI the lighting here is AWFUL!).
Brad was his basic self and got the burger combo. It is the bacon cheeseburger combo that comes with fries and a brownie dessert. As far as the dining plan goes, it is the same value as any other burger meal, so you might as well get the one with the dessert. He would have been fine with the bacon and cheese because he could easily peel it off, but they were able to make it without it of course. And all their burgers come naked and you can obviously use the toppings bar to add whatever you want to them. He enjoyed the burger as always, but again, it is nothing spectacular.
The dessert that comes with it I did not have an option to change. It was the warm caramel chocolate brownie. They did have a cupcake on the menu, but that wasn’t an option on the mobile ordering. The brownie was really good. I didn’t notice any nuts in it, but Brad thought he did. It wasn’t too warm by the time we ate it, but it was still really good. Not overly dry, and any dryness that there might have been the caramel helped with.
Overall both of our meals were really great, and we would definitely go back when we visit Animal Kingdom again. And you MUST use mobile ordering, ha!
