Flounder's Chowder House
The last sit down restaurant we tried while in Pensacola back in February was Flounder’s Chowder House. It too was located across from our hotel and would be easy walking distance if it were not so cold! My mom had eaten here before, but it was new to me. It was dark when we arrived, so I couldn’t get any great pictures, but is really large and was even crowded on this night.
To start, they bring your rolls which were good, but were simple yeast rolls. My mom had the Flounder’s chowder. She really likes it and gets it every visit. I am not a huge chowder fan though.
Melody had the cheese pizza kids meal. It came with fries, an orange slice, and a Rice Krispie treat. She eats pizza, so I was hoping she would eat this. But it was too thick for her. It did taste like frozen pizza. She did eat the fries though.
My mom had the shrimp boat platter. It literally had almost every kind of shrimp you could imagine. And it was all really great. I love fried shrimp, but even the other shrimp were tasty.
My dad and I each got the bay scallops. It came with asparagus and one potato. I got the gold Yukon potatoes. The scallops and potatoes were by far the best thing we had. On this trip I would rate them second to the fish I had at Crabs on the Beach, but man that was still a close one. They were super garlicky and really tasty overall. The potatoes were roasted and crunch and season so well. The asparagus was good, but not as good as the rest.
Flounder’s is another restaurant I would definitely want to go back to when we visit Pensacola again. All the food was good (except the kid’s pizza), and I think the atmosphere would be a lot of fun during the summer!
