Pandemic Legacy Season Two Prologue
So what feels like many years ago we started playing the board game Pandemic. It was a great game for us because you work as a team to save the world from a pandemic (ironic into today’s world, right?). Then we started playing Pandemic Legacy. This was an ongoing game that each decision you make effects the outcome of the entire game. Each game is its own “month” and there could be up to 24 games depending on how you play. We then started playing Pandemic Legacy Season Two. It was kind of a backwards version of Pandemic. You can go read all about the actual synopsis of the game here. I took photos during all of our games and kept some notes for you to following along with (if you are even interested). Also, you are going to find SPOILERS throughout all of these posts related to the game. Just beware if you don’t want to know what will happen. And we do make dumb mistakes as the game goes on. Don’t be us, ha!
So to start, we played the prologue. This allows you to get a good feel for the game and how it will be played. You can play the prologue as much as you want, and none of the decisions you make impact the game forever. You can see the prologue information below. During the game you will find different journal entries telling you all about what happened in the past and what you need to do for the future.
This game still has epidemics as the previous games had. The infect step is slightly different due to the rules being different for this game.
There are several of these produce supplies cards that you can use. Sometimes you can use these cards to their maximum advantage but you may lose that card forever.
There are also rationed event cards. These are similar to funded event cards in Pandemic. They are special abilities you can use usually anytime during the game to give you an advantage. There are several, and several more will be introduced during the entirety of the gameplay. You can only have so many in your deck at any given time, and this is based on if you win or lose the previous game.
Here are all the city cards you start out with. Again, more are introduced as the game continues.
There are several blank character cards. You will set this up yourself as opposed to the previous games where they are established for you. You will also find Haven Worker cards. These are in the case of you losing a character mid game.
There are 8 numbered boxes that you will open when you are told to. And you will be told to by this stack of legacy cards. You will follow all the instructions on these cards. They will tell you when to stop reading too. This keeps you from spoiling anything. Luckily if you make a mess of these cards, they are numbered and can be put back in order by someone not playing the game.
This is another sticker sheet you will find full of upgrades depending on whether you win or lose the game.
Below is the action card. Each player has one to help you keep track of what you can and can’t do.
Below you can one of the characters we set up. We went with Star Wars references for this game.
I am not going to go into any details of this prologue game. We did lose (notice the thumbs down, ha), and we played the prologue several times before we had the courage to move on to the permanent version.
Keep a look out for our first real game soon!
