April 2022 Carnival Cruise Day One
Back in April, mom and I went on a cruise to the Bahamas. We had not been on a cruise together since before I was pregnant with Melody. So it was fun getting to experience it again. The cruise began on a Monday out of Port Canaveral. We had a suite which I plan to talk all about in the future. But by having a suite, we were able to board early as well as go to our room early. You can read all about us getting on the boat here.
Once on the boat, we quickly did our muster drill briefing then we headed to guest services to put in a request for our cabana that we rented while on Princess Cay. Then we waited a few minutes for our suite to be ready. Suite guest rooms were ready at 11:30 am. We did not bring much onto the ship by hand, but we still wanted to drop off what little we had before heading to get lunch.
We spent about 20 minutes in our room taking pictures and videos before heading up to get lunch. I wanted to try Guy’s Burger Joint first. I do plan to do a more extensive review on all of the dining spots on board, but I really loved the burgers here. This was by far the best cruise ship burger I can remember. And I loved the sauce for dipping my fries in (even if it did destroy my shirt). We found a spot away from the noise on the back of the boat.
After lunch, we headed to the bar to grab a drink and a selfie.
We did a lot of exploring and saying our goodbyes before turning off our phones. Then we headed down to grab some fries as a snack before we could go to the dining room for dinner.
One last selfie on our balcony to send to family before signing off.
We had “your time dining”, but we did find ourselves going to dinner around 5:30 most nights. This worked out so that we had the same wait staff the entire time we were here. The dining room was really pretty, and the food was decent most nights. On the first night we had the quesadilla and shrimp cocktail, sweet and sour shrimp and braised beef brisket, and for dessert we had the tiramisu and melting chocolate cake.
We went back to the room to grab a light sweater and found our first towel animal of the trip. They do not do turn down service along with a piece of chocolate like our past cruises. Maybe this is a covid thing. I didn’t get pictures, but we did go and watch Encanto on the pool deck. Mom had never seen it, and there were only a few of us out there. Then we headed to the Welcome Aboard Show at 9:30. We did catch the tail end of Bingo before it started. It was entertaining to watch.
We listed to some music in the lobby before heading back to our room. We found a band we loved called Awesome Sauce. I believe they were called Liberty Rockband in the app, however. They are no longer on the Carnival Liberty though. But they have a Facebook page you can go follow if you are interested! It was probably 11 or later before we made it back to the room to sleep. We did not plan to get off the boat in Nassau, so we did not need to get up early the next day.
