Disney World Day Two March 2023
On our second day, it was our first FULL day at Disney World visiting the parks. We spent the morning at Epcot and the evening at Animal Kingdom. We did open the park, but we made sure we didn’t exhaust ourselves and didn’t close the park. Follow along below.
We started the morning off early. We ate breakfast in our room, then we caught the bus from Shades of Green to the Ticket and Transportation Center. We made it through security, and we were waiting on the monorail at 7:50 am. And yes, my child is eating popcorn for breakfast. We grabbed a bucket at Disney Springs, and she started on it early! The monorail arrived, and we were on our way to Epcot by 8 am.
We were let in for early entry, and we went straight for The Land. I had to grab a picture of our stroller in stroller parking as tradition goes. It could be our last one with a stroller (maybe). We headed straight to Soarin’ and rode it twice in a row without any wait. Then we rode Living with the Land before moving on.
Around 9:45 am, we walked over to The Seas. We saw a photographer, so we decide to grab some pictures. I wanted to make sure we utilized Memory Maker as much as we could. Then we rode Nemo before letting Melody play some in the play area.
Next up was Spaceship Earth. It did have a wait. We got in line around 10:20 am, and we were off the ride by 11 am. Melody and Vicki played some before we attempted to move on.
And you would not be able to tell it from the pictures below, but when we walked out, it immediately started raining. So we sat under the awning and even shopped a bit while waiting on the downpour to stop. We even tried to meet Minnie Mouse, but it was raining so much, she went inside too. Once the rain passed, we started walking to the World Showcase. We grabbed these pictures on our walk literally less than 15 minutes after the rain. Aside from the few rain spots on our shirts, I don’t think you’d notice from the bright sun!
On our walk through the World Showcase, we grabbed more pictures in Italy. This was one of a few not so nice photographers we encountered. She seemed quite unpleasant and frustrated we all wanted pictures separately then as a group. But we still did it.
Next up was lunch. Our reservation was at Tutto Italia at 12:30. And they meant 12:30. We arrived about 15 minutes early to find out they did not open until 12:30 on the dot. So we had to wait until they literally opened the doors to go and check in. But we were seated almost immediately.
So I had the grilled chicken fettuccine alfredo. It did come with a whole chicken breast that I had to cut up, but I did not mind it. It was really good, but I won’t be getting it again anytime soon. I will explain more on why in a bit. But at the time, I truly did enjoy it. Brad got the ravioli. And while I did read the menu, as did he, it was not what either of us excepted. I guess I still expected some sort of tomato sauce too, but it was truly all pesto. But he said he did enjoy it.
For dessert, Brad had to get the tiramisu. He enjoyed it as always. I got the 50th anniversary special dessert. It was a vanilla and blueberry panna cotta. It tasted ok, but I wouldn’t get it again. I would have rather gotten a dessert later from somewhere else had I known how it tasted. They also were not sure if they even still had any even though it was on the menu. Which made me wonder how fresh it really was…
So our original plan was to leave after Tutto Italia and take the bus from Beach Club to Animal Kingdom. However we did get a boarding group for Guardians of the Galaxy that morning. We got boarding group 82. And it was called while we were finishing lunch. So we decided to just take the time and go ride it. We got in line around 2:15 pm. We waited around 45 minutes or so in line before getting on the ride. Now not to give any spoilers, but your girl got sick. I even had my doctor give me a patch to help prevent motion sickness, but it did NOT work. This was literally the first time I ever threw up after a ride. And that is why I can’t eat the alfredo again for quite a while. Aside from me getting sick, it was such an awesome roller coaster. It was so smooth and thrilling.
I contemplated going back to the room because I was still so queasy. But after throwing up and drinking a coke, I decided to go ahead and go with the group since it would be our only time at Animal Kingdom. We arrived right at 4:30, and Brad’s parents were able to snap a few photo pass pictures before another downpour came.
As soon as we got in, we went and used our Lightning Lane for Flight of Passage. I so badly wanted to do this, but it makes me sick sometimes. So I knew it was a really bad idea. So Brad got to ride it twice using my band. However, it became one of Melody’s favorite rides. She absolutely loved it. Part of me wishes we could have went back later in the week so I could experience it with her, but there is always next time.
While Brad was riding it the second time, the rest of us to Melody to The Boneyard. Rumor is it is going away eventually, so I wanted to experience it again. Our last trip it was closed due to COVID. It is such a nice area. And since there is only one way in and one way out, I can let her run without me watching her every move.
After the playtime, we decided to go ahead and grab dinner. The quick service options are still lacking after 5 since a few places close early. So we ended up doing a mobile order for Flame Tree BBQ. For one of our least favorite spots, we end up eating here almost every time. It is decent, but not a favorite.
After dinner, Brad finally got to take Melody on Everest. It is a favorite for him, and he had been looking forward to it for so long. He didn’t tell her about it going backwards either. So it was a total surprise. This was another ride I passed on because I easily get sick on it too. But the four of them were on it within 10 minutes of getting in line. Melody got off excited but as soon as she saw me, she started crying. But we are almost certain she loved it.
Our last ride of the night was Dinosaur. It was Melody’s favorite before this trip. She still loves it, but she loves others too. It was a walk on thankfully.
We left the park by 8. So while we almost closed the park, we still made it an early night. I really wanted to go back to Epcot for the deluxe hours, but I knew we really needed rest. The biggest issue here was catching the bus back to Shades of Green. While we knew the general area and time, they did not have bus stops labeled. And it was our first time riding it from a park. In the end, it was easy to spot since they had Shades of Green written on the side of the bus, but I do wish they had cleared parking spots.
Animal Kingdom is such a fun park, and I hated we didn’t get to do the Safari with his parents. But there just wasn’t time due to some of the waits. And we were trying to accomplish other things during the trip, so we didn’t have time to return. But I suppose it gives us something to look forward to next time!
