Chefs de France Review
As you may have read in my previous post, Brad and I just returned from Walt Disney World. We went back to celebrate our two year anniversary. As I wrote about yesterday, Brad and I always select one must do restaurant. Mine is always Teppan Edo, his is one of the French restaurants. I personally prefer Chefs de France over Monsieur Paul simply because of the dessert selection. If they offered the same desserts at both places, it would be Monsieur Paul without a doubt. That is simply because of the environment. See below for pictures and my review of Chefs de France.

Overall Review
We arrived to our reservation around 6 pm. We checked in at the entrance, and we were given a pager. Within a few minutes, our table was ready! We had a nice window seat overlooking the World Showcase. Unfortunately you are ground level in this restaurant. So even though we had a nice window seat, you still mainly just see people walking around. We did get to see Alice from Alice in Wonderland just prancing around which was kind of neat. But overall, the view is great for those that like to people watch! Now, if you had this same view at Monsieur Paul, it would be immaculate. Below is a picture from when we dined at Monsieur Paul with a similar seating arrangement. The view was great!
A few minutes after being seated, our waitress arrived to take our drink order. Coke and Iced Tea for us! She returned quickly with our drinks and bread. The bread here is just a French Loaf of bread. Nothing spectacular, but if you are like me, I used my bread to dip in my soup!
She next asked for our orders. This is where her thick French accent and the weird translaction from French to English had its difficulties. Brad ordered the steak dish, rare. I ordered lobster bisque and the macaroni au gratin. I was hoping it would be just as amazing as the side dish version at Be Our Guest. So, the waitress asked if I wanted the meal or not. I was really confused by this. I instinctively thought she meant a meal or side dish of macaroni au gratin. After discussing it over with her, she meant the three course meal they have. I told her no. It would not save me any money to get the meal, and neither of us were feeling dessert there. I had my eye on an apple from Downtown Disney's Goofy's Candy Co. She seemed to have our orders straightened out and went to send them to the kitchen.
Moments later, she arrived with my lobster bisque. I LOVE lobster bisque. If a restaurant has it on the menu, I am at least going to try it! I have had it here before and really liked it. Like I said, I use the French loaf of bread to dip in the lobster bisque. It is really good and creamy. Their bisque was not overpowered by tomatoes like I have had at other places. They also give you a nice portion of lobster meat in the bisque too. I will order it every time I go!
Before I could finish the lobster bisque, our entrees were ready to be delivered. The waitress asked me if she should wait or if she could go ahead and deliver them. I had no problem with her delivering them, and by the time she returned, I was finished anyhow. All of Brad's food was great. He loves the steaks here, and the veggies were nice as well. I did not try any of his food, primarily because I will not eat a rare steak, so I took his word on how good it was. The macaroni au gratin was ok. It wasn't anything spectacular, but it was still good. It probably would have been better if I had not just had the side dish at Be Our Guest. It was definitely not comparable to Be Our Guest. I did not care for the top portions of the meal because it was pretty dry, so I ate primarily the bottom pieces of pasta. I would not order this again. If you like pasta and cheese, this is probably good for you. I eat pasta on occasion, but it fills me up way to quickly. I might have finished half of my pasta.
Our waitress returned and offered us boxes, but we politely declined. This restaurant is really good if you are on the Disney Dining Plan. They have a three course meal option that is covered which is nice. Brad loves the steak, and that is only offered at dinner. I hear their lunch menu is much more reasonable in price if you are not on the Disney Dining Plan. The experience is always nice, but I always find myself so awkward around the wait staff. The language barrier is always hard. I am not sure why because I don't have this problem in Japan, but it is. There are also TONS of tables in this restaurant. That means you are sitting extrememly close to other guests. That in turns makes the restaurant fairly loud. It is a good place to take kids, I am sure. The prices are not too high, and you don't have to worry too much about disturbing anyone since it is already so loud. That is the benefit to Monsieur Paul. It is MUCH quieter and has a much more upscale feel to it. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone, though. We enjoy it and have eaten here twice.
