Time Saving Household Cleaners
Having a one year old and being a stay at home mom, I have to find ways to clean our house easily and in a short amount of time. Melody follows me around and likes to be right underneath me, so I don't want to spend all day cleaning. I usually clean early in the morning right after she gets up. She is happiest during this time of day, and she will usually play more without being right under me. So this gives me an hour or so a day to clean or do some sort of chore. I can also do some things during her naps, but I usually like to decompress and blog during that time. So below are just three things that I feel have made a huge difference in my household cleaning!
1. Clorox Wipes - Clorox wipes have become our best friend since having Melody. I honestly think we should buy stock in them! We load up every time we go to Costco. I use them for multiple purposes. I use them to clean our bathrooms. I clean our sinks and toilets with them. I also clean our kitchen with them. I clean our countertops, sink, and most often Melody's high chair. To save time, I keep wipes in each of our bathrooms and kitchen. I don't clean all the rooms on the same day, so this keeps me from traveling from room-to-room with the wipes. I find this to be much easier and, most importantly, time saving than using a spray cleaner.
2. Scrubbing Bubbles Fresh Brush - I would say this is on of my favorite time-saving cleaners. I used to hate cleaning the bathrooms. When Brad and I got married, he agreed to clean the bathrooms. Well once I became a stay at home mom, that responsibility became mine. So I wanted to find something that would be less gross and save me time. We bought a toilet bowl brush for each bathroom and kept toilet cleaner in each bathroom, but it would become extremely gross extremely fast. I decided to find something better. Brad and I stood on the aisle with the toilet cleaners and picked something out. I found this fresh brush system, and it was glorious. The system is stored beside your toilet. You use the handle to "grab" the brush. You clean the toilet, then release the brush inside of the toilet. They make a brush that is not disposable if you want to have a deeper clean. Bathroom cleaning is so quick and easy now!
3. Pledge Wipes - I have a love for wipes. In all honesty, I could list a large number of things we get in "wipe" form these days (windex, stainless steel cleaner, etc.). But those wipes, while somewhat time saving, aren't used extremely often or in a large of quantity. Pledge wipes make dusting a much quicker and easier process. Sure I could easily carry a bottle of pledge and a cloth around while cleaning. But when cleaning a table full of pictures, it is nice not to have to remove every picture to spray pledge on the table. Instead, I pick up a frame, wipe under it, and move on. So what about just spraying the pledge on the cloth? That could work too, but I feel you get a better clean with the wipes, and you don't have to carry around two things, just one. This is especially handy with a one year old by your side!
