The Plaza Restaurant

The Plaza Restaurant

On our trip to Disney World in February 2017, we decided to try The Plaza Restaurant.  We rarely eat at table service restaurants at the Magic Kingdom.  I have tried a few of them, but I haven't been super impressed.  There is just so much to do there, I hate to spend a lot of time eating.  But we did want to try somewhere new, so we picked here since it was so inexpensive.

We arrived to check in for our reservation around 11 am.  We had to wait a few minutes for them to get everyone seated since they had just opened.  When we sat down, it was pretty empty.  All of the pictures in my post of the restaurant reflects that.  The restaurant is super tiny though.  And when we left, all the tables were full.

Anyhow, our waitress eventually arrived to our table.  She was not friendly at all.  She wasn't really rude, but she just was very direct and not willing to make conversation.  She really acted as if she did not want to be work.  While we were waiting around, Melody was really enjoying herself in her highchair.  She was really happy since she just finished her bottle.

Below is a snapshot of the full menu along with the kids menu.  I guess they thought Melody was going to eat a meal...

Here are a few more shots of the restaurant and our view.

Now on to the food.  I wanted to be different, so I ordered the fried green tomato sandwich.  I have never actually had a fried green tomato (shocking, I know!).  It sounded extremely good yet different than something I would ordinarily ordered.  I also decided to get the house chips as my side.  I must say, I was not disappointed.  It was delicious.  All of the flavors all together were perfect, and I have a new love for arugula.  It is amazing on a sandwich.  I will not hesitate to order this sandwich again.  The chips were also good, but man, I really could eat that sandwich now!  I literally finished every last bite.

Brad ordered the cheese steak sandwich with the house chips.  I personally did not try it.  Brad did not like it at all.  He said it just tasted funny.  He didn't even finish half of it.  That is how I know he doesn't like something.

I don't know if I would eat here on a dining plan because the food isn't very expensive compared to other table service restaurants.  However, if I am paying out of pocket, I would definitely eat here again.  The menu is a really good menu to please a variety of people.  I don't feel like you would have a person in your party that could not find something they like.  I also think the location is very ideal, and it is a very good value.  I definitely would recommend it.
