Ice Cream Cone Favors
Melody's first birthday party was an ice cream themed party. I wanted to do some cute favors to go along with the theme. I found all kinds of things I considered doing. I went back and forth on which type of favors to do. Do I do fun favors? Do I do edible favors? Do I do favors I can make weeks in advance? Do I do favors I have to make the day before? So many decisions. In the end I decided I wanted what was going to be the cutest!
I opted to do edible favors that I would need to make the day before the party. I used real ice cream cones and topped them with cotton candy. I bought two boxes of sugar ice cream cones from Walmart (24 total). Cotton candy was the most challenging item to find. I could not find any in stores. I tried Walmart, Target, and Party City. I googled, and the only option I came up with was Amazon. I was skeptical, but the Amazon cotton candy turned out to be perfect! It came in a pack of 2, and it was in 3 colors.
The day before Melody's party, Emily and I assembled the favors. I bought clear cellophane bags from the party section at Walmart. I bought the smaller ones that came in a pack of 25. I placed each cone in the bottom of the cellophane bag. Emily rounded a handful of cotton candy, and she dropped it on top of the cone inside of the bag. Each bag of cotton candy produced 9 cones total. So we ended up with 18 favors.
After assembling, I used the ties include with the bags to tie each shut. I made labels that said "Thanks for making my birthday so sweet! - Melody". I also included pictures of the ice cream cones from the other decor. I printed them on cardstock, and I cut each one out using a 1.5 inch circle punch to punch each label out. I used a hole punch to punch a hole in each label. I cut ribbon and tied the label around each ice cream cone favor. I then removed the tie I originally used to seal the favors.
I had a white wooden tray left from our beach wedding. I placed each favor inside of the tray. I then placed the tray on a table at the party and included the invitation next to it with balloons.
Overall, I think the favors were a huge hit! They went perfectly with the theme, and everyone loved them! With two of us, it didn't take long to assemble at all.
