Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory Revisited
So we have eaten at Sassagoula before while staying at Port Orleans French Quarter. We recently went back and tried a few new things that I wanted to share below!
First off before I even get to the food, this trip our experience here wasn’t the best. We had to wait quite a while for each meal we ordered here. And the frustrating part is if you want something from multiple stations and you have to wait in line and order at each one. It was really frustrating, but the food was really good so I guess that somewhat made up for it.
So the first thing we tried that was new was the Shrimp Poboy. We actually had this twice, and both times mom and I split it. It is HUGE! The shrimp was cooked so perfectly and the sauce was great. It was simply dressed with just tomatoes and lettuce. The fries were also cooked perfectly. They were not over seasoned as I had experienced before.
We also had the Sassagoula Power Salad on two occasions (splitting it both times. I won’t list all the ingredients (because there was a lot), but every single ingredient meshed perfectly. We ordered it with chicken both times. The chicken had a slight spice to it, but it was really good. I have tried to make the salad at home but I have been unsuccessful to mimic it.
We also got the beignet sundae. I had the ice cream put on the side based on past experience of it melting before I even got back to the table. The different here is they are Mickey shaped, but otherwise they taste just as good as before!
The last thing we tried was the create your own pasta. My mom picked chicken Alfredo with spinach. It was pretty good. It wasn’t my favorite of the three new dishes we had, but it was good enough that I would order it again. This dish took forever to make though.
Of all the dishes, the salad was obviously the quickest option, but even I had to wait a while in line to order it.
