Disney World March 2023 Shades of Green

During our trip to Disney World in March 2023, we stayed at Shades of Green. Most people do not even know this resort exists. There is a list of criteria that you must meet to qualify to stay here. The two largest qualifiers is if you are military/former military (some special rules apply to the later) or a Department of Defense Civilian. We found out about the resort a few years ago, and we wanted to give it a try. It is actually located on two golf courses, so that was how we convinced Brad’s dad to come to Disney with us. It also gave us a great opportunity to try out the resort too!

DoubleTree Disney Springs

Back in October, we made a last minute decision to head to Disney World for Melody’s fall break. We had Hilton points, so that made the trip more appealing. We had enough to stay for free at DoubleTree at Disney Springs. It was the best deal out of all the Disney Springs Hilton hotels, and we did like the idea of having the separate bedroom and mini-kitchen.

Everything Pop Dining - May 2021

During our recent Disney World trip in May 2021, we stayed at Pop Century. During this time, there were still a lot of COVID protocols going on. [I am not sure when you are reading this as to the accuracy of how things are in the present, so keep that in mind.] With these changes, I wanted to refresh our experience at the food court here at Pop.

Pop Century Revisited

So if you have been here awhile or have been reading up on my Disney posts from the past, you will know we were NOT fans for Pop Century back in 2017. We had a lot of bad experiences here, and even though there is some nostalgia from it being the first Disney hotel Melody stayed in, it was totally not our favorite by any means. I never would recommend this hotel. Well back in May we gave it another try. Not because I wanted to, but when we booked our trip it was pretty much all that was available that was reasonably priced. So we gave it another go.

Disney's Skyliner

When the Skyliner was announced at Disney World, I knew I had no intention of riding it. It sounded terrifying. And with the accidents that happened after it opened, my fears had meaning. But when we booked our trip back in May 2021, the only affordable option was Pop which utilized the Skyliner for both Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Both were parks we intended to visit multiple times. So I had to overcome my fears.

Traveling to Disney World May 2021

So we headed to our first Disney World trip post-COVID back in May. It was a Sunday evening. We opted to fly due to my dad’s work schedule and the cheap flights. But we were also forced to take whatever time was available. So we flew in late Sunday night. Melody was completely clueless. I was hoping for a fun reveal, but unfortunately it didn’t quite happen the way I had hoped.

Buena Vista Palace

When mom and I took Melody to Disney World back in October, we stayed at a new (to Melody and me) hotel. Melody and I would be spending a few days at the hotel alone during the day, so we picked this hotel because of the amenities. Mom had stayed there before, so she knew there would be plenty for us to do.

Boardwalk Inn and Villas

During our Disney World trip back in February 2019, we decided to try the Boardwalk Inn and Villas. We originally booked at the Inn side, but then I found a great deal after the pass holder discounts came out, so we ended up staying on the Villas side in a one bedroom. We were actually afraid this would ruin us being in a one bedroom villa (and it did!). We didn’t spend quite as much time at our resort outside of our room, but I was able to grab quite a few pictures to show you!

Boardwalk Joe's

While staying at Boardwalk Inn and Villas back in February, we frequented The Boardwalk itself often. We walked The Boardwalk to get to Epcot every day. We didn’t eat at many places, but we did stop in a few of the quick service places along our walks. We stopped at Boardwalk Joe’s twice. It wasn’t for their margaritas, although those looked great. Instead I was intrigued by their Dole While Smoothies.

Boardwalk To Go

When we stayed at The Boardwalk back in February at Disney World, we decided to try Boardwalk To Go. We were arriving in the evening, and I didn’t want to make a dining reservation in fear of delays. Plus we knew we would likely be paying out of pocket for one quick service meal. So Boardwalk To Go was on the top of our list of places to eat at on this evening. We had a few others we had researched, but the food sounded best here. Plus all the reviews online said it was cash only. So this would be the only opportunity for us to eat here.

Port Orleans French Quarter Review

When mom and I went to Disney back in January, we opted to stay at Port Orleans French Quarter.  We had Annual Passes so we had a little extra money to spend on this trip since we were not buying tickets.  So we decided to stay moderate in the end.  With the construction at Caribbean Beach Resort and Coronado Springs, those were not an option.  I have already stayed at Port Orleans Riverside, and the cabins at Fort Wilderness do not appeal to me.  So that left Port Orleans French Quarter (POFQ).  I have actually always wanted to stay here, so it worked out.  And we were able to get a discount using our AP.

Disney's Yacht Club Resort Review

On our trip to Disney in December, we decided to stay at the Yacht Club.  We originally booked the Beach Club, and we even considered The Boardwalk at one point.  We eventually changed our reservation so that we could stay at the Yacht Club.  Our reasoning was for the discount.  I did some research and found that with an Annual Passholder discount, it would be a larger discount at Yacht Club vs Beach Club.  Our main goal was to simply stay connected to Epcot, so we were entirely ok with this change.  Luckily, it did pay off in the end, and we were able to score a great discount!

Pop Century Resort Review

In February 2017, we traveled to Disney World with Melody for her first trip.  We decided to stay at a value resort because we are planning to return to Disney World later this year and stay at a nicer resort.  This trip was meant to be a short trip so we didn't want to invest the same money in this one as our one later.  This was Brad's first stay at a value resort.  I have stayed value many times with my mom and parents.  I have stayed at every All Star resort, but we most commonly stay at the All Star Sports Resort.  With Brad, we have stayed at The Contemporary, Saratoga Springs, and Port Orleans Riverside.  This was going to be a big change for Brad, but he was on board with it.
