Snow White Birthday Party
Melody has finally reached an age where she has an opinion on things. When asked what kind of birthday party she wanted, she asked for a Snow White party. Of course she changed her mind many times, but Snow White is what we always came back to, and then it was too late…I started buying and making things!
The night before her birthday party, I set everything up as much as I could. We had her birthday on a Sunday, the day after her dance recital. We already had some family in town, so we figured that made the most sense. It was a crazy weekend, but it all went well! I made her cake myself, and I planned to ice in Sunday morning. So I was sure to set up as much as possible Saturday night to make Sunday easier.
Since it was so nice outside, our focus for all of the kids was all of the outdoor toys we had. Brad set everything up that morning, and we even bought a bouncy slide as a special gift for Melody from us and my parents.
As I was inside prepping stuff on Sunday, I heard los of noise outside. I look and all of our patio furniture was across the yard. Thankfully Brad came home from getting balloons not long after it happened and fixed it all!
I set the food table up in our dining room. It had all of the main food that wasn’t dessert related. I decorated using a table runner I already had, and I used some of her toys to decorate the table. It also included her invitation and a picture for added decor. Lastly, I made a Happy Birthday banner and attached it to the table. I did try and play on the red, yellow, and blue as much as I could with paper products and serving dishes. Oh and I made this wooden 3 to add some extra decor.
The dessert/cake table was set up in our living room on an existing table we had. I decorated it with some balloons Brad went and bought, a picture of Melody, and a Snow White banner I made. Again, I played off of the color scheme in our serving dishes and paper products. I made the Snow White doll cake using the same cake mold my mom used for my birthdays. With the leftover cake mix, I made some cupcakes for those that didn’t want to cut a cake. I also bought some chocolate chip cookies since those are Melody’s favorite. And I made apple and “3” iced sugar cookies. When it was time to serve cake, I also put out chocolate and vanilla ice cream cups.
We had a drink table set up in the dining room. I also added some Snow White decor on the table, and we served various drinks.
The main favor table was set up in the livingroom. I made the frame for the favor sign. Of course the key here is to tell people about the favors. Only one was taken!
I set up a gift table by our fireplace. I had a “3” balloon I blew up and added on the table. I also made a cute banner to attach to the mantel.
I was also sure to spread out some Snow White decor throughout the house.
I set up a kid’s table since we were going to have 5-7 kids coming this year. I borrowed a table from my best friend and put them together. I placed the party hats Melody requested and picked out on the table along with some ribbon wands I made.
Before the party started we were sure to get pictures with and of Melody while in her Snow White dress we bought her for Halloween. We got much use out of this dress!
Melody played outside some in her dress. Then once everyone got there she decided she wanted to be more comfortable!
Once everyone arrived, I brought the kids (and adults for that matter) inside. We went ahead and sung Happy Birthday to Melody, then everyone was welcome to eat both food and cake.
After a little bit, I let Melody start opening her presents. I wanted to do everything that required her to be inside all at once so I didn’t have to make her come back in!
Then everyone played and ate as they desired!
And we managed to get a picture of Melody with my brother (oh and Lydia too, ha!).
The birthday party was so much fun, and I was so happy we were able to have it at our house too! And the weather was perfect. Melody had so much fun, and she seemed to love all of the attention, ha! Stay tuned for future posts that go into so many more details about all of the pieces of her party!
